I do believe in predestination because that's what the Bible teaches. Here is one scripture among many-
Romans 8:29-30
For whom He foreknew (predetermined), He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

I find the idea that certain people have been picked from all eternity to inherit Heaven a weak theory,if a person believes in Christ and does their very best to live the Gospel then surely they can inherit the Kingdom of God and because God is not subject to time and space but sees all of history at a glance, then He also sees those, who are true believers and followers of His beloved Son, and waits to welcome them, but I feel this is down to the free will choice of the Christian rather than some kind of lottery draw in Heaven.
It was St.Augustine who proposed pre-destination and this was rejected by the church simply because it made the sacrifice of Christ just a limited one and not universal.

I'm not in it for the ten point, thank you for offering, but the reason I answer questions is to try and be helpful, yes if you picked mine I would be greatful, but thats not why I do this. Now the the question: No I don't believe in Pre-Destination. Its a fine line between God's soverintiy, and our humanity. But Pre-Destination crosses that line. If God knows everything which obviously he does then the time-line is nothing to mess with, except for this question. Someone once explained it to me like this. "We see everything happening like a video tape, playing on the screen. God sees everything in widescreen mode. He sees the past, the present, and the futher, all happening at once." Now correct me if I am wrong, but Pre-Destination supports the theroy that "Only the elect are truely saved, and no matter what we do, we can't change who is saved and who isn't, so our job is solely to find the 'pre-distend ones' and get them distation HEAVEN."
Maybe that was a big rash, but honestly, pre-destination is rash. God gave us free will, we have the choice to accept him or not, you can't put God in a box and say that only some of us are going to heaven. God knows all, and sees all. Like I said, its a fine line. God says in his holy word that "He is not willing that any should parish but that all should come unto him." Do you honestly believe God would put us in a box and randomly pick out the ones that are to be saved and the ones that aren't? I don't. "let all the weak come unto me and I shall give ye rest." again LET ALLLLLL come unto me. nothing about the "pre-destend only get to come, sorry." God loves us all, the same, today tomorrow, forever. He sent his son to die for us ALL not just some of us. Look it up in the bible. I don't believe in pre-destination. I hope I didn't offend you in anyway, and thank you for asking the question.
God bless, and merry Christmas

Do a search and read about "The Akashic Records". I'm not saying I believe in predestination or that I don't believe in it, but more like there's thousands of paths that lead to somewhere...only YOU decide which path you take to lead you to your destiny. It could have already been predestined to turn out the way it would if you choose that path...or everything could be random.
I try to keep an open mind about it but still found The Akashic Records an interesting concept.
One day I'm hoping to have the experience that will lead me to decide what mode of thinking on the subject works best for me.

I don't believe in pre-destination. I believe in choice. The choices we make dictate where we'll end up, not some godly presence. Also I don't think it's compatible with free will and infallibility. If God knows what you will do before you do it and God can't be wrong then you have no choice but to do what God knows you will do. It may not be god controlling you, but you have no control. I also am an agnostic atheist. I think belief in predestination demands belief in God.

Yes, I do believe in pre-destination. I'm predestined because every time I turned away from God he'd go get me. He makes me sick or something happens to me because as for me he wants to make sure that I live right and go to heaven. I feel very fortunate for God to choose me among those who will go to heaven.

Yes but I believe it is like a computer program for if this then that if that makes any sense. Are destiny is influenced by our choices. I assuming you are Christian as me so we are born with choose. Choose life or death and that choice influences the outcome. I believe God's choice would always be for life if he had not given that right to us.

lol. The bible says things about pre-destination, but not that that is what God's plan for people is.
God ultimately knows what we will do with our free-will, he knows whether we will go to heaven or hell, but he doesn't force it. That wouldn't be love, and God is love.
Well then, you could ask, why would he create evil people knowing they will cause harm to the world?
Ask a good mother/father why she would still love her/his son or daughter when he/she is causing troubles. God's love is not only expressed through himself, but through people.
We're not 'pre-destined' to go to heaven or hell, but God knows where we will go. The amazing thing is, he loves everyone the same. That'd be hard for me to do if I were God... BUT I'M NOT
:D

I don't think it is Biblical. The Bible teaches faith in God and Jesus as the only way to heaven. We can either pass or fail this test. I was shocked to find out Presbyterianism (among other denominations) was founded on this belief. Can you explain why you believe in it?
