I believe - It's not about sex. The story of Adam and Eve was the first time mankind had to choose between Satin and God. They chose Satin and so Satin is the prince of this world. We automatically belong to Satin unless we choose God. You don't have to choose Satin, you already belong to him unless you choose to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. That is why every one who does not accept Jesus Christ goes to Hell because you automatically belong to Satin unless/until you choose the true and living God. If Eve had chosen God over Satin we'd all automatically belong to God and we'd have to choose Satin. But that's not how it went, Adam and Eve chose Satin over God so we all automatically belong to him unless we choose God.

I think the Adam and Eve story is a prophecy in itself, for our times.

Why would you think it was about sex? God encouraged them to enjoy one another right in the beginning of the story. As punishment for their actions, he made sex less convenient. That doesn't sound like the overall story was about sex in any way. The Bible is full of sex. If God was so against it, don't you think it would be devoid of such subjects?
It does have more to do with either living the way God intended or choosing to live the way we want to. It's not a story that happened, it's a story that happens every day.

Of course it isn't. God created them with sexual anatomy. What do you suppose He intended them to do with it? They were spouses, and sexual union within marriage is and always has been a holy gift of God to His people.
