Your going to have to taper your self off the meds slowly. decreasing the amount alittle everyday until you are barley taking any. Then stop all togeather. You still may have some mild discomfort but it will only last a few days. Good luck.

I personally have not but i do have some experience in it. First of all do you still have some form of chronic pain? You need some form of help with the pain if you stll have it. You will need some kind of help with the pain or your just going to go back to using pain killers. You can try an NSAID which is basically Aleve or Advil, but you probably should stay away from Tylenol since Vicodin has tylenol and you do not want to overdose becasue it is toxic to your liver.
You can try to wean yourself off of vicodin as others have mentioned. Try to slowly taper off the medication weekly or monthly or some where in between. You can also split the tablets to slow the tapering. But if this does not help you are going to need professional help. Your body is just to use to the Viocodin that you will go into severe withdrawl symptoms which health professionals can help you out. You should not feel ashamed for using medication if you are genuinely in pain and getting the medication legally. Hope this helped and good luck.

I have very chronic pain so i'm still on the Lortab but there was one time when i wanted to get off and what i did was just decrease the amount of pills i was taking daily.......like if you take 5 then go to 4 for a few days then 3 and so on. Not everyone can do this...............then i know some people who were addicted and got on this drug called Suboxone. But now i hear they are addicted to that???????????????????????

You should try to gradually decrease the amount you take. If you take 6 a day start trying to take 5 a day for 3 days then decrease down to 4, then 3 and so on. I know this will be hard, but you have to do it to be clean. You can also try something else to help you keep your mind off of it. Maybe try eating sunflower seeds or something else you like to keep your focus off of taking pills. I wish you the best of luck.

wow i've been on vicoden for almost 3 years now...but i've never gotten an addiction to it. i think is why is because when i feel like i'm getting addicted or like that's all i want, i will just stop...i place the bottle to the back of my medicine cabinet so it's harder to get to...and i'm good.

Detox from vicodin is bad. Seek professional help at a rehab clinic or hospital. There are meds they can administer to help ease the pain from detox.

I know someone who used methadone(the drug used to gradually quit heroin). It might work if you are worried about detox. OR you can use a Narcon Flush, which flushes all your receptors.Good Luck.
