the reason is because of "Original Sin", when "man" disobeyed God to become his own master. The soul is heavily damaged by sin, therefore, it cannot recognize God very well. BUT, if you commit yourselves to knowing God through prayer and such, Jesus Christ will reveal himself to you> comments>

It is exclusively for the Atheists to answer. They have very strong logic but they fail to convince that there is no Supreme power at all.

Yes, I know exactly why. Because I am a rationalist and do not accept anything on faith alone. There is no rational evidence to support the notion of a god. When there is, ask me again. (Question with an answer) Why doesn't god show itself now when so many people are questioning its existence? Why no burning bushes or appearances that cannot be explained otherwise? Why does this being need constant attention and stroking i.e., oh, you are so wonderful...blah, blah, blah? Is it so insecure that it needs to be constantly told how great it is? Sounds like some therapy is needed.

Here's what you don't seem to understand. Many (not all necessarily) atheists (including me) do not believe in the following:

1) Soul.
2) Sin.
3) Jesus Christ.

Why do I not believe in God? Try NO evidence!

It's the exact same reason I do not believe in Thor, Aphrodite, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, unicorns, fairies, etc. They're all non-existent to me until I see even a SHRED of evidence and still I'll be skeptical.

Your myth (i.e., God) is such an extraordinary claim that you need extraordinary evidence... you've had thousands of years to do so. You haven't come up with ONE evidence let alone enough to justify your claim. I rest my case.

Asker: Do you know why you believe in GOD?

the reason is because humans evolved with an inherent need for order. It's part of having a brain that automatically compartmentalizes everything, creating logical systems out of chaos. Those of us who have an IQ above 36 recognize the order in the natural world without having to invent an imaginary friend to be the source of all cosmic relevance. You, however, clearly lack this ability. So you have a "GOD" who created you, making you feel special and giving your life meaning.
I, for one, am a big supporter of Special Olympics. Likewise, I think it's important for you "special" people to have something to believe in, so I'm not going to argue with you.

Well, if your theory was true, I would rather be my own master. So I guess I would be glad to keep my "original sin" instead of selling out like you have :)
But, your theory is not true. I don't believe in god because I don't have any logical reason to, and my mind somehow escaped the brainwashing technique that my family and society put me through as a child.

Do you know why you like to lie about atheists?

Were you aware that there's a commandment that reads "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"?

Do you understand why your morals are so shoddy?
===================
We don't believe in God because there is no evidence that there is a god. You don't help your case any by telling such transparent lies.

Flavius - I think that you're simply making an honest mistake. The vast majority of American atheists were raised to be Christians. Most of us didn't have any particular "bad experience" with religion - we just were honest with ourselves about the fact that "god" never actually appears.

You know why some people don't believe in gods?
http://www.the-brights.net/
That will give you some understanding of why they don't.
Here are some more reasons. There is no strong argument to show that gods exist. There are only extremely weak and gratuitous arguments. They are not weak because they disagree with what I believe. They are weak because they are not based well on logic. Religious theory is very poorly developed theory.
non-believers, on the other hand, have theory based more on strongly logical ideas: http://www.the-brights.net/

Did you know that original sin was a concept by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 300 AD. Did you know that God cast man out of Eden not to punish man but to protect himself? It's true. In Genesis God says he cast man out to prevent them from eating from the tree of life and becoming like him.

I do know why I don't believe that God is a guy wearing sandals with a long white beard, because that description of a being that is omnipotent and everlasting is ludicrous.

No Atheists can ever come up with their own answer, so basically they are following others as well. God did not make something imperfect, he made it in His image BUT gave humans free will. Humans made the choice not to be like God in original sin. God will provide you everything you ever need, like he has me and so many other people I know with the power of prayer. Try it once. You might be surprised. Oh, and guess what? I have proof God exists because I see it everyday. It is called the world and universe. History doesn't lie! How many people have seen God in the burning bush? God is real and I hope you all will see that one day. We care because we care about your souls and we are trying to spread the Word of our and your God.
