The egg, since the way that evolution works is that each new species is the result of genetic mutations.
Therefore, the first chicken egg was laid by a non-chicken (or chicken-ancestor). This egg was the first to have all of the genetic mutations that define it as a new species (the chicken).
Only after this egg hatched were there any true (modern) chickens.
The other way to think about it is this: There are 2 transitional times in the lifecycle of a chicken,
1: the conception of an egg
2: the hatching of a chicken
Since genetic variation can only occur during the conception of an egg and not during the hatching of a chicken, the egg obviously came first.

The chicken, because if the egg came first, no one would be there to hatch it.
But if the answer was supposed to be egg, then I think it was because you eat eggs and bacon for breakfast and chicken for lunch.

The chicken of course, because God made animals first, also if the egg was made first, what would take care of the egg?
