People will ALWAYS be afraid of committment. Part of us wants to be loving and committed to those we love but part of us wants to stay free.

This is normal.

I have to tell you though that I had opportunities to get married when I was younger that I passed up and I am glad I did. It takes people a while being on their own in the real world to figure out who they are and what they want in life, and most people at that age don't know. I have friends who are 26 that still don't know!!! Most of the friends I had at that time that DID get married are now divorced with kids and are worse off now than they where before.

So keep this in mind....

21 is NOT tooooo young to marry, but what is the hurry? What is wrong with just being engaged for a long time? I've got news for you, marrying him doesn't really make him yours. He can still file for divorce...

Ages differ with people. It all depends on your maturity. I was married at 21 and married for 13 years (unhappily). I finaly realized I didn't really love him. I just wanted to get out from underneath my parents and he was a responsible person. When I was 37, I found my soul mate. If you are having doubts you should not be getting married.

You are really young. Make sure that it is love and not lust b/c this is the only person you have been with. Four years is a while but you need to get some experience under your belt first.

i want to get married around 23
love is about taking risks!
you should take one
you love him you know it
marry him
maybe if your not 110% take a really long engagement
might make it easier
you can ease into the marriage thing
spend a week at his house
sleep there cook there see how he works when your not around

Because you've been together for 4 years you've seen the fun parts of life. Take him and spend part of an afternoon with the geriatric nursing home with older folks. See if he is the man you can grow old with or he can grow old with you. Feel your heart and discover that he is part of your heart for forty or fifty years.

how well do you know this person and what exactly do you want from this relationship? marriage can happen at any age, but that doesn't mean it'll last.
