Lemar needs to learn his vehicles, I'm assuming you just bought a Mitsubishi, not a Toyota like Lemar thinks. Call the dealer you bought it from, find out how much you can tow based on the size of your engine, if it is more than your pop up camper weighs, go buy a tow hich.

I would still call the dealer, but Edmunds.com says the 2 wheel drive can tow 2000 pounds and AWD can tow 3500 pounds since all outlanders have the 3 liter.

Your brand new outlander (I think you actually mean Highlander) should have an owner's manual. What the vehicle can tow should also be in that manual. (And if you don't know what it is you have for sure, maybe you shouldn't be trying to tow anything with it) I'm not trying to be mean here, and it's probably a typo, but that is an extremely important piece of info to know if you plan on doing some towing.

All you need to know is the weight of your camper, and you should have all the information you need to make that determination.

I agree with your husband, but I don't think I would have said it that way. What you are considering requires a dramatic lifestyle change. Think about that. You have enough on your hands with the kids without having to be concerned with all the extra work owning a camper , truck and traveling requires. You are seeing all the romantic, carefree, vagabond, adventure aspects of being on the road and not seeing the more practical realities of packing your life around. I considered doing that, but I'm older and have no young children, and on looking at everything involved, It just looked like a lot of extra trouble and concerns. Go to a KOA or other campground and still see if that's where you would like to spend time. The people there are older, there aren't very many kids, the activities and locations are geared to an older group. You have plenty of time to investigate and get the information and facts to make a good decision. Good luck!

apparently nascar24 thinks its backwards day and didn't inform the rest of us. Either way, you should be fine. Like everyone has said, the campers are pretty light. If it has a vin# with a metal plate about the size of a 3x5 card with lots of numbers and letters. look for gvwr or something of the sort. It will be in Lbs and hopefully tell you how much your camper weighs.
