Well, what helped me was a total revulsion at the thought I was being controlled by tobacco.
Don't let the bastards win!

Well, I am a smoker, about a pack a day.....so Im not sure if my advice or answer will help, but here goes:
1.) I heard simply chewing gum can relieve the oral tendancies that smoking provided for you.
2.) I also heard that looking at pictures of damaged lungs on the internet can relieve the tension or cravings.
3.) If this doesnt help, there is always laser surgery or types of medication that will make you throw up when you inhale quantities of smoke. Now if you smoke pot, then I wouldnt not reccomend this option.
4.) There is always the patch!

It has been 4 years since i quit smoking and it is still hard sometimes. My cravings got so bad a person was smoking in the car in front of me and I could smell the smoke, but I kept telling my self I didn't need them I will live longer to see my children grow up and grandchildren when they come. You have to have will power and you have to want to not smoke anymore. In the end you will fell better about yourself. I also quit cold turkey good luck.

YEA FOR YOU!!!! YOU QUIT!! You had a desire to quit and you did it!
Why did you quit? Health? You family's health? Cost? It's a nasty habit? Whatever the reason(s) - THINK of that before you light up. Think about it really hard!!!!
I quit cold turkey too. That was over 10 years ago! You can do it! Just think - you'll have health - the people around you won't be affected - your breath won't stink - and you'll have LOTS of extra spend money!
Eat. Go ahead and eat. Don't worry about gaining wait right now. You can tackle that battle AFTER you tackle this one. Try to eat healthy things like fruits and vegetables - but if it comes down to a cigarette and a donut - go for that donut. It's okay.
Keep busy. Clean out drawers - make crafts - bake. Keep your hands busy. When you find yourself in "I want a cigarette mode" - jump up and clean out the junk drawer. File all your bills. WHATEVER!
While I enjoyed smoking very much - I can tell you it was just a horrid thing to do to my body AND all the people who love me. My workout suffered when i was smoking. My health suffered. My appetite suffered. My FRIENDS suffered. ("Can you please wait while I finish my cigarette" or "Can we sit in the smoking section?") and on and on. To put it simply - smoking is selfish and stupid. I'm sure that you are not either of those things!!
Good luck!!! You can do it!!

I quit for nine years after having smoked for 18 years. the best thing is to change your routine. Go places where smoking is prohibited.( i spent the first 24 hours in the mall) don't do the same things that you asssociate with smoking: morning coffee, reading the papaer, watching tv...etc.... In a few days to a week you will still have cravings but can handle them better

trust me when I tell you that GOD is the only source that can help you. I have stop smoking and started back that cold turkey stuff don't do it. I went to Church one night and I told GOD to help me and I swear He done just what I asked to this day I have not smoke a cigarette or any marijuana since that Sunday night in 2003 (March) I guess what I am saying is that a sincere heart and a dedicated mind will help as well

I quit cold turkey too, 15 years ago, my husband still smokes. You can do it ! Like others have said, find something to else to do when the urge to smoke comes. I liked the suggestion "file your Bills" it made me laugh.
It is so worth it to quit. Kudos to you for fighting the fight. Good Luck!

I also stopped smoking 2 yrs ago after 30 yrs. What really works for me is telling myself that Im stronger than that little "Cancer Stick". You have to be mentally more powerfull than the cigarette craving......Good Luck and never go back to that nasty habit.
