These days the truth seems like it is playing hide and seek with me. The more I seek after it, the more someone tells me it doesn't matter. That's funny, (sarcastically speaking) I believe that it most certainly does matter. But how to know it is the problem or more so how to accept it. The truth is obvious, don't settle for lies!

It is so much easier for most people to simply believe what is fed to them. Personally I ALWAYS search beyond what is given to me. I come up with my own rules to believe what is true. I base them on the strongest, most logical foundation. It is the best basis to move towards true understanding of the universe. I don't take ANYTHING for granted, ESPECIALLY my own philosophy on belief and truth. That is why it is so strong, because I am always open to the idea that it is wrong. It can always be tested and improved. There are many people like me, joining together in a movement known as "the Brights". Very fascinating.

I think it's easier to accept what you've been taught. But since when is the the easy way, the good way? Here's a relavent piece of scripture from Matthew 7...

13. ``Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way.
14. But the Gateway to Life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it.

Elsewhere, in Luke, it says...

seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

In other words, you have to work for it. Actively seek and study and learn.

There are a bazillion people who sit and church expecting the pastor to cram understanding into their lazy skulls and who will end up dieing without the understanding and joy that would have come from a real effort to learn what God whats to teach us.

Also, if you don't learn this stuff, then you can't pass it on to your children and your family line can be lost in one generation

Good luck to ya!

Seek the truth...always. Test the "truth" to validate it.
What is the chance that you were "born" into a family, religion or belief, that has 100% truth? (Everyone can't be right.)
Because my church's affiliation is Baptist, does that mean that Evangelical Baptist doctrine is absolute? (Not even amongst church members).
I believe you should search for the truth and not remain "lazy" to set beliefs because "that's what everyone around you believes" (this includes believers and non-believers). Search diligently and then research and understand what you believe so that you can give account of yourself.

Sure it is easier to accept - who wants to admit they may have been wrong. Something has to rock your boat for you to question your secure position. Slave owners in the USA and Europe could look to the bible to prove that ownership was right. Martin Luther King used the same bible to show that all men are created equal and that slavery is wrong. Go figure.
The truth is not always obvious - truth is what you believe it to be at that moment. The truth is: I believe killing is wrong - unless my family is threatened - then it is right to kill to protect them.
Keep searching with an open mind.

It is "easier" to just accept what you've been taught but you need to find out if that is the truth. What if you were taught/trained in a cult, you can't just accept that. What is your spirit telling you? Always search it out, find the truth. My beleif is that you will find the ultimate truth in the bible. If you haven't already, look there.

I was raised in a household with NO religion.
I was aware of God and The Bible.
I was in my mid 30's when I accepeted Christ as my personal savior and became a Christian.
Try reading PROVERBS first, then maybe Matthew. Skipping through the Bible here and there has worked for me.

I always look beyond, and when I get to that bend, i look again.
I'm on the move through this life, and I don't intend on slowing down. i stop to smell the roses, then pick up and move again.

That's how I find the truth within my-self.

Good luck on your journy through life.

If you're asking this question, then you need to seek out the truth. Don't just act like you believe it, you'll be lying to yourself and others.

The greatest sin is to pretend.

It is easier to just accept, but it is BETTER to search beyond. When you search, and find the answers that satisfy your questions, you can be content with your belief, whatever it is.
