Because I need the serial code and was wondering if I could take out the radio myself rather then paying the main dealer to do it.

Yes, you can take it out, but only with it's parent's permission and it has to be back by ten o'clock.

you need special 'keys' to remove it.

the keys should have come with the radio when you bought it or be somewhere with the car if you bought it new.

if you don;t have the keys then they can be made out of a metal coat hanger, or some thin 3 inch nails will do.

its tricky this way though, it took me about 25 minutes just to get the old stereo to pop out when I upgraded.

but don't take it to the main dealer!
halfords will stock the 'key' you need and probably charge you about £3 for it.

The main dealer is going to want 20 minutes labour charge off you probably for £30 or so.

If you dont know what you are doing, and the fact that all cars are different, let the dealer do it. They should be able to have it out and back in, in less then 30 minutes.

Get the Keys from Halfords and slide them in till you hear the click, then slowly pull it out with even pressure on both keys, will be a struggle but will eventually come.

..........gettting it back in is the fun bit.

Of course you can take it out by yourself, but if you want it to work afterward, and you've never done it before, you'd better have a professional installer do it.
