pills..drugs...food..everyone misses the most important aspect..exercise...if people would exercise more they would not have to worry so darn much about food...Are you really serious about doing this? We are talking about hard work. Putting down your little debbies, getting off your butt and not only going on a diet but EXERCISING!!! Even if you lose the weight it will come right back if you do not have the desire and motivation to not only look cute but to be healthy. it is going to take alot of inner strength I can assure you of that.

1.) eat 4-5 small meals a day

2.) drink lots of water

3.)exercise every day

4.) do not eat 4-6 hours before you sleep

instead of an Atkins diet I suggest the South Beach Diet

Atkins is based on a 20g or less of carbs per day. Cheese has a lot of fat, not exactly carbs. How fast? that really depends on your metabolism and your current weight. The first week, you can lose up to 10-15lbs since there's a change in your body in terms of the type of food that you are eating. Personally, I don't see Atkins as harmful, but it kills me when I can't eat bread or rice. Here's the site http://www.atkins.com/carb-counter . E-mail if you want to read more about it, I have e-books of the Atkins diet.

Off the top of my head, when you first start Atkins you can only have 20 carbs a day but there are specific ones you can't have such as corn, squash, milk etc. You really need to get the book and read it if you are going to do the diet plan because it gives all the reasons for everything you can and can not eat.

I lost 15lbs in 2/12 weeks on the atkins. 45lbs total from August to Sept 27. My blood pressure was tremendously lowered and i felt energized all the time. I didnt even workout until i stopped the diet. You really have to be dedicated to it though by the way for the first 2 weeks it 20 carbs daily but i did no more than 10 daily eating only meat and salads with little ranch dressing. Plenty of broccoli. It was really hard for me though because i'm a bread and potatoes kind of girl and i gave it up. but all in all doing the atkins was the healthiest time of my life.

I lost 60 pounds on this diet in a very short time, but it should never be a lifestyle. Your carb intake depends on your current weight and height. If you are significantly overweight (50 pounds or more) then start with 40-50 carbs per day, then switch to 20-30 once you are a little closer to goal. Cheese is Fantastic on this diet...I would put it on everything. STAY away from american sliced cheese (kraft singles, Borden, etc) they have the highest carbs in them....eat cheddar(yum) and pretty much any cheese that you can buy in block or shredded because that means they haven't been processed like the sliced american. Most importantly READ THE NUTRITION LABEL and always pay attention to the "serving size" because it can be deceiving when you think you are only eating 1 gram of carbs, but per serving you actually end up ingesting 5 or 6 grams!!!!

Also...STAY AWAY from only counting NET CARBS....you cannot count net carbs alone (carbs - dietary fiber + sugar alcohols = net carbs), these are only for those who have been on low carb for an extended period of time...longer than 3 weeks!

There is also ZERO wiggle room, which means NO CHEATING!!! It takes 24-48 hours for your body to be in Ketosis, which means your body has switched from relying on carbs for energy and now it is seeking out your stored fat instead! Once you goof on this diet...you literally have to start over in order to get your body back into fat-burning mode. They sell ketone strips typically used for diabetics, but they can tell you your level of ketosis, by telling you how many ketones are in your urine. Rule of thumb (for me) is if you are peeing more frequently and your urine is darker than usual – then you are in Ketosis!

The most important thing to remember once you reach goal is to switch to a healthy diet and exercise regimen. a lot of people complain that once you get off low-carb you will gain all the weight back and then some....the reason for that is because people get used to eating high fat and protein, and when they can finally have carbs, they forget to cut out the food they have been living off of during the low carb, and obviously the conjunction of high fat + protein + carbs = weight gain!!!!

Good Luck and do your research before you EAT!!!!!

The key to Atkins is to get your body into ketosis, or burning fat. The first couple of weeks you have to limit your carbs to almost nothing (no bread, potatoes, corn, etc..) After the first couple of weeks you can add low levels of carbs.

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

Twenty carbs a day at the beginning. More later. Cheese is low carb.

It works.

You can go to atkins.com. They have all of the foods you can eat in the phases you are supposed to. They also tell you how many carbs each food has.
