At a fork in the road between two cities, you see 2 people. One always tells the truth, and comes from the city of safety. The other person always lies and comes from the city of cannibals, where they will eat you. They both look exactly the same. You must choose one of the persons, and ask him one and only one question (no compound questions either, such as "is this shirt red and which way to safety?"). What question could you ask to find out which path leads to the city of safety?

I would ask " which city are you from??"
The one who tell truth will point to his city of safety.
The one who always lies will point to other city which is city of safety.
Then just go to the direction which they pointing at.

I'd ask one which city the other one would say is the saftey city. Let's say that the left-hand city was the safefty city. If I asked the liar, he'd lie and say that the other man would say that it was the right-hand city. If I asked the truthful man, he'd truthfully say that the other man would lie and say it was the right-hand city.

Either way, I'd go to the opposite city to the one given in the answer.
