I dont think that Joe Riggs is a bad fighter but it seems like he makes every fighters "highlight reel" he just gets caught in some good finished. But does Diego deserve a title fight next? Anderson Silvas second fight in the UFC was for the title and he took it with ease.

Anderson Silva came into the UFC as a seasoned Pride and MMA veteren. Sanchez is an up and comer. He has to beat established fighters. In order to get a title shot, he'll have to beat one of the top welterweight contenders - Matt Hughes, BJ Penn, Matt Serra ( I guess), etc. Joe Riggs was a good test for him, but Diego will have to beat a former champ to get a title shot. He is one victory away from getting a shot at GSP. I personally think that he should have to fight Matt Hughes with the winner getting a title shot. We all know GSP will cream Matt Serra, then he'll be ready to fight BJ, Hughes or Sanchez.

Anderson Silva is a top notch international fighter thats why he got a title shot so soon. When some of the Pride fighters cross over to UFC you'll see them getting title shots soon also. Diego has been fed cans except for Karo, and if that fight had been 5 rounds instead of 3, then Karo would have won. Diego does deserve to be fighting some top contenders in his division, but he still has a while before he deserves a title shot.

Sure, there's alot of fighters who are ready for a title fight. That doesn't mean that they can beat the champion. I can't see how Diego Sanchez could beat either GSP or Anderson Silva.

I think he is mentally ready. I just think his stand up needs a bit of tweaking. He did catch joe riggs, but you have to remember that joe always lets his left down when he swings that wild right hook. That is how diego caught him. A knockout is a knockout and Diego definitely finished that fight with a vengence. But, to go up against a better striker like GSP his stand up needs work.

Does he deserve a title shot yeah
Is it good for him to take it, i would hold off on it, you have to look at the top 3 guys at that weight
Hughes=better hands and wrestling than deigo
GSP= way better hands, stronger, better wrestling
Penn=better bjj, better hands
i hear there is gonna be a hughes and GSP 3 in april, deigo should fight serra and kroscheck, both good fighters that will test diffrent aspects of his game to see if he is at the level he needs to be before dana gives him a shot

Matt Hughes stated after dropping his belt that he has a settlement for a REMATCH adverse to George St. Pierre for the Welterweight Championship. properly i do not understand the documents of Matt's settlement, yet i'm placing out to have self belief that his settlement has actually certain him a rematch for the Welterweight Championship, no longer unavoidably a grudge tournament adverse to George. even with the very undeniable truth that we are likely going to work out a rubber tournament between Hughes and St. Pierre sometime in the destiny, it has already been anounced that Matt Hughes and Matt Serra are going to be both coaches of best Fighter Season Six. As custom commonly is going, Matt Hughes will probable challenge Matt Serra on the right of the educate for the Welterweight Championship(if he nonetheless has it). With St. Pierre out of that state of affairs precise there, i ought to really see him having a wrestle very quickly with Diego Sanchez. i imagine that could be between the finest fights in a lengthy time period, both George AND Diego are 2 fantastically experienced youthful potentialities. i have were given George St. Pierre triumphing that wrestle by using knockout, even with the truth that.

I don't think he has much of a shot against hughes or GSP. But then again, i thought riggs would be able to hang a couple of rounds and put on a great fight. Who knows?

Sanchez should have to take on Penn and Hughes...or at least one of them to prove his legitimacy..b/c if you dont beat anyone at the top of the food chain, we cant just assume you are great and deserve a title shot.

Sanchez has beaten a few formidable opponets, but he is lacking that really big win to prove he belongs in the top.
