Recently (the last three days), I have been experiencing random facila flushing (warmth and redness in my cheeks). I am not embarassed, cannot link it to something in particular that I have eaten or caffiene usage, am not having hot flashes (not the age)...I cannot seem to link it with anything, it is very random and lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours). I don't like to call my doctors office, because I will only get to talk to the receptionist and I don't want to make an appointment if this isn't the sign of something that I should be concerned about. Anybody have any experience with this and have any clue what it might be a sign of?

Ok...I know that niacin can cause this and I forgot to add that I am not currently taking any niacin (or other supplemental) products...this is a very random thing that started happening to me and I was wondering what could be cuasing it. Thanks!

Have you been taking Niacin tablets? If so, it could be niacin flush. Otherwise, it could be caused by hormone fluctuations. We cannot diagnose you over the internet, even if we were doctors, so your best bet is to visit your doctor if you are concerned.

Are you taking any medication or vitamins with niacin (a vitamin B)?
Flushing is one of the most troublesome effects of niacin. Niacin stimulates prostaglandin (a hormone that affects many different body functions), which causes blood vessels to abruptly dilate and fill with blood - hence the flushing and sometimes even a light-headed feeling.
The flushing is pretty much harmless if it's caused by niacin. In any case, you still might want to ask your doctor.
