es even against it? I doesn't seem like their leaders are either--Bush and his guest worker program, etc. It's not just Mexicans--it's ALL illegal imm. I am speaking of.
Reasons why illegal immigration bothers me:
1) Sucking up the services intended for those who have actually paid into them via taxes.
2) The holding down of wages for the lowest paid Americans--which ends up costing the government b/c the poor require more assistance.
3) The free medical services which they require continue to jack up healthcare costs--and as an uninsured student who wants to protect her good credit, means minimal health care for myself...
4) The disease which are making a resurgence in America, usually only unique to the 3rd world-- leprosy, Chaga's disease, Multi-drug resistant TB, polio, hepatitis...etc. (Did you know that 1 out of every 7 East Asian immigrants are carriers of Hep B)
5) The constant influx of poor will cause an even greater divide b/w rich and poor, which makes fo

The only way you can stop illegal immigration is by making sure the world is more fair. IF there are opportunities in their countries, why would somebody want to be treated as 2nd class (or worse) citizen in some foreign land. Listen to what Bono has to say and stop trade subsidies and embargoes and practice real free trade so that the poor in the poor countries can make a living and they would not have to come to the states.

Um, the dems are the social gathering who will supply amnesty to 20-5 million unlawful immigrants in the subsequent 2 years so as that they are in a position to get 25 million new democrat voters. Who hates the Minutemen observing our borders and relaying the information to the government? Liberals Who shouts down anybody who speaks out against stemming the tide of unlawful immigrants? Liberals Who believes that sending human beings back is nativist? Liberals Who fights to end INS around united statesand deportations? Liberals Who refuses to have a wall outfitted on our souther border? Liberals What team is asserted as racist or worse for desirous to stem the circulate of illegals by way of our borders? Conservatives What political team has cities concentrated secure havens for illegals? Democrats Who would not have faith in imposing our regulations on our borders and could fairly see Ramos and Compean rot in reformatory for capturing a drug smuggler? Liberals

I came here the legal way fifty years ago when it was difficult to get a visa and it took me 4 years. Since then I have had a great life and contributed well to the USA. I also now have a family of 3 American children and 6 American grandchildren. I am for legal immigrants as I know I was an asset here, still am. Still working at 74!

I'm about as liberal as it gets, and I believe illegal immigration is a scourge on America. We should not tolerate law-breakers of ANY kind. If they want to come to the US (or any country, for that matter), it MUST be done through the appropriate channels, or serve jail time prior to deportation.
It isn't fair to legal immigrants who do the right thing and jump through all the crazy hoops with the INS.

I guess I'm a conservative liberal or maybe moderate....I don't know. I just want my laws enforced. There's many laws I don't like but I still obey them. Just having a mass of people break the law isn't a way to change it either by some "majority rules" thinking by people who aren't even citizens. There's multiple sides to every issue that need to be weighed out in any given situation. What's the point in having laws if only a few have to abide by them, while the others can do what they want? Amnesty is going to cause a great divide in alot of ways that alot of people just aren't looking at.

It certainly seems no one wants to touch this issue. Im not sure our Dem and Rep leaders know the meaning of ILLEGAL. It is a burden on our economy. People complain about funding the War on Terror, but these same people dont mind funding illegal immigration. Your information is correct, for I have just completed a report on illegal immigration, and aced the report. Its time to look at facts and throw the political correctness away.

I am not a liberal, but I have found that a majority of people in the country are against illegal immigration. I think your reasons are good ones. My primary reason for being against illegal immigration is because it is a violation of the law. I firmly believe that one the most important duties of a citizen should be respect for the law and this should apply equally to anyone choosing to live in this country. You cannot truly uphold this concept if your very existence in our society is a violation of this concept.

There are lots of people from both sides that do not agree with the pro-illegal stance.
I was thinking the other day as I was watching about the meat packer raids, these people who "buy" identities to work, could possibly destroy the person who's identity that was stolen. It takes years upon years and lots of $$$$ to recover from identity theft. How is that fair to a legal citizen who works and takes care of their business?
People say they just want a better life, but does that constitute ruining someone else's life to do so?

Well, it does drive down wages for all Americans, so it's bad for working citizens, but I don't know if I want the price of my lettuce to go up if every illegal was kicked out, you know?
Yes, they are using tax-supported government services, but some of them are using non-existent Social Security numbers, so they are paying money into the system that they can never collect on (retirement), so I don't know if we (Amercans) come out ahead or behind on that one.
I'm a liberal, so I DO try to weigh both sides.
