I understand what he means. I thought the same thing just a few years ago. He probably just assumes that the mind is more important the body. He is proud to be smart. But we all wish that we looked better on the outside, too. I know that is kind of shallow. But, it is just as wrong to assume that being strong and healthy is better than having a sharp, quick mind that most gamers have. Video games have shown to reverse the effects of dementia in elderly people b/c of the mental exercise. Ironically, he is doing what you are. He is becoming faster and stronger (just in his mental agility.) He is not wrong to want to improve that. As athletes, we cannot make the same mistake he is making and assume the mind is better than the body or vice versa. The mind is not the soul. Your soul (greek word..psyche) just means yourself. You are made up of both mind and body. I say play some games with him and sharpen your mind. Acknowedge that his interests are also good. Perhaps he will want to sharpen is his body by following your example. I found that both are important to improving yourself.

How about to prevent about 20 different diseases? To live longer?
Psst.......working out in a healthy way can also give you better, stronger erections due to increased blood flow. That ought to convince any dude.

First of all, if you like to work out, tell him you enjoy it. I know that I feel great after a workout. You can't trade that for anything.
He has his thing and that is cool. Exercise is one of your things.
Also, tell him that you are hedging your bet that exercise will help you be healthier now and in the future. It's not a sure thing, but its worth it to you.

He's obviously jealous because he could not do what you do. The best argument for him is to make you feel like the effort is not worth it. But he couldn't do a work out if his life depended on it. Ask him to prove otherwise.
