go to the post office, get the form. The form has a circle on the front which you stick the tax disc to. Send this to the DVLA and when they can be bothered they will send you a cheque as a refund for the remaining months.

A disc cannot be transferred but it can be cashed in in certain cases. If you sell the vehicle without tax disc in the price for example, or you scrap the vehicle, or no longer use it on the road, you can apply for a refund of road licence for the remaining period left on the disc. They will only do full months though as increments, so for example if your tax was due for renewal at the end of March 2007 and you wanted a refund now, you would only get a refund for January, February and March and not December, as it is already halfway through this month. Forms for doing it are available from the Post Office and they will help you with filling it in if you ask them.

You can get a form from the post office to send the tax disc back to the DVLA, however you cannot transfer if to another vehicle. They will only refund for a full month not part of. So make sure the "other" vehicle has an up to date disc so you don't get fined!

You need to get the forms from the Post Office or you local DVLA office.

Remember though that you can't cash in the current month, even if its the first, and they 'charge' a month's tax as a penalty for cashing it in. Thus if your tax expires at the end of January 2007, you'd get nothing.

You need a form from the Post Office to be able to cash the Tax Disc in. You can not transfer it directly from one vehicle to another.

It can't be transferred.
However, you can surrender it, and get a refund for all full remaining months (i.e. if you cash it in on 30th December you'll get a refund for January plus all months after, but if you cash it in on 1st Jan you'll on get a refund for February and the months after).
However, you need a good reason to surrender it (such as declaring SORN).

sure, I too believe you. even with the undeniable fact that the authorities is determined for ever extra tax gross sales and tax is unpopular so putting even extra tax on gasoline after we already pay the utmost gasoline tax in Europe, and probably the international, (see link) that's considered by chancellors as in all possibility to reason such resentment that it would heavily harm their opportunities for re-election. As a separate tax it ought to nicely be 'spun' to the stupid, i.e. a good type of the voters of their opinion, as being needed for highway upkeep as some responders curiously believe, or as needed for checking possession as others curiously believe . the in problem-free words functional use I somewhat have common made from it truly is the present regime of graduating the tax so as that it truly is considerably decrease for the further gasoline effectual vehicle. even with the undeniable fact that the reality is, it truly is a a lot less obtrusive tax that, because it truly is not too exhausting in itself, human beings will grumble about yet often pay at the same time as no longer being a actual component at the same time as it contains commonly used elections. As to it no longer somewhat being a criminal offense no longer to pay it i'm afraid you're heavily incorrect. Non-fee somewhat encompasses both best crimes any authorities can conceive of. contained in the first position you're defying them, our masters, that can in no way be allowed and contained in the 2d position you're taking tax gross sales faraway from them that can in no way be huge-spread.
