No! Sausage is not good for a diet if you are trying to lose weight.
BUT THEY TASTE GREAT.
If you are NOT trying to lose weight or watch your cholesterol it wont hurt to eat them every now and then.
But keep in mind the ingredients are stuffed into Hog Casings (Pig Intestines).
There are so many kinds of sausages.
Some have fruits and vegetables included in the ingredients(These would be healthier than all meat sausages.)
And they all contain wonderful herbs and spices that are very good for you.
Enjoy!

Sausage can include a lot of ingredients. Some good and some bad. Sausage is probably not one of the more healthy foods out there. There are exceptions. Hey it is a source of protein and other things.
I like the answer above about moderation. So, if you are eating your veggies and other healthy stuff, you're probably good to go with an occasional sausage.
If your diet regularly consists of French fries, donuts, soda pop, white bread, and other "empty" stuff, you may want to consider setting aside the sausage lust. Trade some of the empty stuff for veggies, black beans and healthy stuff. Once you've made the switch, reward yourself with a sausage.
It's your life, and I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just suggesting a strategy that has worked for me. I know the work that it takes to change a diet; and, I know how delicious a good sausage can be.
By the way, one of my favorite lean sausages is the ham, mustard seed and caraway seed one from this deli:

Now that I don't live near NYC, I miss it. But it is one sausage that I could eat occasionally and not feel any guilt. They trim away the fat from the ham as they prepare the sausage.

Sausage can't really be cooked with no fat, the fat is mixed in the meat with the casing.
Sausage and red meats should be consumed less than white meat.

sausage (as named as a type) is made with fat.. you cant make sausage without it.. otherwise you'd just have something like a hamburger patty...
They grind up meat along with the fat of the animal and spice it up real good.. the fat is what holds it together and gives it its "sausage" flavor..

I've always believed that anything is OK in moderation. Sausage won't really hurt you, but if you are diet conscious, it's best to leave it out.

Sausag is probably the worst "meat" you can eat. It is full of fat no matter how you cook it. It is horrble.

Yes i think it is in general ... what i do to get most of the fat out is i put the sasages in a pot of water ..bring it to a boil... then i simmer them for about 20-30 mins and i also add some spices to the water ... enjoy :)

if you get turkey sausage, or lean sausage, and don't eat a lot of it in one sitting its ok. otherwise there is a lot of fat in it.
