Okay, we all know there are outspoken people who get news coverage, such as Westboro Church and their anti-gay sentiment, that cause mis-conceptions about Christianity.
So, what are some common misconceptions about Christianity you have either heard on the board, or in daily life, that youd like to clear up?
For example, Christians are intolerant and hateful. While Christianity SHOULD be teaching Love to others.
I know there are Atheists out there, who know a great deal about Christs teachings, so if you have an example of a misconception, and what Christians SHOULD be doing or portraying, go for it.

I know.....do you?
You made a valid point, and in trying to prove me wrong, you neglected to also bring up the fact that I apologized to her in her other post, and corrected my wrong. Repentance, and admiting to a mistake, is part of tolerance. I admitted I jumped to a conclusion. Have you ever apologized when in the wrong?

TONS! I can't recall a single character on tv or movies that portrays Christianity the way I see it in myself and my friends. (With the exception of the Passion)
Church is not a place that demands our money. We give to support the church just as you pay your bills to the cable company. Only our payment is voluntary. We do it in obedience to God, recognizing His provision in our life and thanking Him for it. We support the church in it's ministries to poor and needy people. It is the church's much neglected duty to help the needy. Where do you think that help is supposed to come from if not from the members of the church?
Christians don't hate people. Granted, many self proclaimed christians do, but not those who truly follow scriptures. We hate the devil and the destruction he causes in people. We want to see him eradicated from people's lives so they can live in freedom and peace and true joy.
Christians don't think they're superior to anybody. We are lowly pathetic sinners, in need of a Savior. We are just people who can be honest with ourselves that we're not doing a very good job at living life on our own. We are not capable of being good. We make mistakes and we fall a lot. We are people who have found that Jesus can help us live the good life. Through Him, we can do all things.
I have more, but this has gotten lengthy. :)

One I've noticed on this board a lot is that people think that the instant someone becomes Christian that means they should be able to live every last one of Christ's teachings with 100% perfection. Obviously that's not true, I mean, there's a reason Jesus also taught a whole lot about repentance.

The biggest misconception among "Christians" centers around the true identity of God. To them God is triune; he is composed of 3 coequal, co-eternal "persons." There is NOT ONE verse in the Bible that comes close to even remotely saying that. That being true, trinity believers will point to scriptures that appear to show that Jesus is God. One such Bible verse is John 10:30, where Jesus said: "I and the Father are one." But does that say ANYTHING about God being made up of 3 coequal, co-eternal persons? No.
If Jesus is the REAL Son of God, how can he be as old as God? He can't.
The trinity has a lot of professed Christians very confused about the God they claim to worship.

Well, I know that your post towards the girl who posted the Atheist description was quite hateful, though you speak of "love to others" here.
While you apologized on a later question when she called you on it, along with the handful of others, I have to wonder why Christians do that...
Why do you say things, then come back and apologize later...
If you all didn't mean to say then, or didn't mean them at all, then you wouldn't have said them in the first place.
So, I guess that my misconception is that Christians don't (or do) say what they really mean, then apologize for what they say without giving it any other thought.
Doesn't make sense to me.

•Christians are brainwashed (a method for systematically changing attitudes or altering beliefs, originated in totalitarian countries, esp. through the use of torture, drugs, or psychological-stress techniques. )
•Christians are hypocrites
•Christians are hateful
•Christians are bigots
•Christians believe in a sky fairy

a million.) God isnt gunna deliver him to hell if he repents what he has executed. If he doesnt then he is going to hell. As a christian you dont want the gunman to circulate to hell. I dont desire to work out anybody circulate to hell. 2) The memories have been written by making use of God by way of human beings, consisting of Moses. technology hasnt shown something. there is not any scientific information of evolution. 3) we Christians dont hate gay human beings, we hate their way of life selection. You cant hate a guy or woman, in spite of in the event that they do you harm.

Misconceptions. Jesus said that you should beat slaves
"Luke 12:47
"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. "
