I know it would take a long time, but it would be a great benefit for the U.S.. We would have oil and natural resources! We would have the pyramids that their ancestors built and that would be great for our turism. We would have cities with great beaches just like Cancun and a lot of more stuff that they already have and they don't really care about it. And obviously the illegal immigration issue will finally dissapear thank God.

Not a bad idea. We could make Mexico the 51st State, bring in health and human services and bingo bango no more Tourista! No more sewerage in the Pacific floating N to CA and better control of Mexico's Southern border. As a plus, as you said, the end to the illegal immigration problem. The hell with the oil, we'd have all the Tequila!!

I personally have no desire to "take over" Mexico or any other country. The corruption in Mexico is far too deeply embedded /ingrained into that nation. While I grant you there are some lovely places in Mexico,we do not need to add to the problem of poverty that any action such as that would bring.I would like to see a revolution in Mexico,to see the crooked politicians run out of the country along with the drug smugglers, gang members and all the other criminals. While the US has some of the same problems as Mexico, the difference is that our people in government as a whole are somewhat honest and try to provide for the American people. The Mexican government does not.
You speak of the "good places" in Mexico but remember if you take over a country, you must take all the "bad places" as well.I am not ready for any take over of Mexico and I damn sure am not going to allow any take over of the USA by any one, from any where.

We did take over Mexico. Been there, done that. You may recall a little thing called the Mexican-American War? It was a military conflict fought between the United States and Mexico from 1846 to 1848, in the wake of the 1845 U.S. annexation of Texas. Mexico had not recognized the secession of Texas in 1836 and announced its intention to take back what it considered a rebel province.

In the United States, the war was a partisan issue, supported by most Democrats and opposed by most Whigs, with popular belief in the Manifest Destiny of the United States ultimately translating into public support for the war. In Mexico, the war was considered a matter of national pride.

The most important consequence of the war was the Mexican Cession, in which the Mexican territories of California and New Mexico were ceded to the United States. In Mexico, the enormous loss of territory which resulted from the war encouraged the central government to enact policies to colonize its northern territories as a hedge against further losses.

California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas were part of Mexico until the second half of the 19th century. We lost those places because the stupid Mexican President who ruled in the time, and because the few Mexican population. The colonists started to populate Texas and after they claimed these territory victoriously. And Mexico was in conflict with United Stated and the president sold Arizona, California and New Mexico to solve the problem. It was a huge mistake of the past. If Mexico didn´t lose those territories would be one of the biggest countries in the world and maybe powerful. But now we are recovering the lost territory silent, with all the migration of Mexicans to the United States.Well done.

I've thought of it more as a merger of the two countries, but the more I've thought about it, I've come to realize that we're better off keeping the two countries seperate. If you think about it, or if you've ever traveled there, you realize that Mexico is a lot more pleasant, the people friendlier and for the most part happier than people here. If the U.S. "took" over Mexico or merged the two, the U.S. people would just screw it all up as much as they've screwed up the U.S. and worse, the stupid U.S. politicians would ruin the whole thing in 30 years.

You left out one important fact. Think of how much easier it would be to seal the Southern border between Mexico and Central America. You could do it with 20 Border Patrol Agents and a Troop of Girl Scouts.

Have you ever been to mexico? It's a F*king Sh*t hole! Why the hell would you want to take it over? I say create a great wall of America and separate us from that dump. But let us go down for the Baja 1000 and San Felipe 250.

No! America is having a tough time taking care of Americans. Mexico would simply add to a burden that is increasingly hard to shoulder.

No......we are having enough trouble dealing with this country let alone the massive headaches of Mexico which then of course tie us in with South American. More than ever we need to fix what's going on here and let the other nations fix their own problems.
