Yes, if you have a deficiency.

No, it is also used for younger people in certain instances, especially women, although some men may benefit from it under certain circumstances.

I did at 24. I had gone through some rather serious traumas, and received the shot for a while. It is injected in the muscle tissue, and it causes a mild burning sensation.

B-12 is not absorbed well, and the digestive system tends to break it down when taken in pill form.

There is a sublingual tablet available, that dissolves under the tongue, and it better absorbed directly through the skin than a pill that is swallowed. This provides a little more energy.

There was also a nasal drop form of B-12, which not only provides much more energy, but very quickly as well. This is sometimes hard to find, and I haven't looked in years. I used the nasal form of B-12 when I was an endurance swimmer. It causes sinus problems when used, but they were slightly mitigated in my case, because I was swimming 8 hours a day. I was 34 at that time.

The sublingual tablet is probably the better choice, unless a currently licensed Medical Doctor has suggested the injections.

You can take B-complex in capsule form and accomplish the same thing much cheaper. Plus some people have a severe reaction to the shots.
I would be one.

You will notice a lovely increase in energy if you take a really good multivitamin with iron every day and the B complex extra is good.

People have to get the B-12 shot because their body cannot make it anymore. And once you are on it you will always be on it. Certain medications can effect the way your body can produce it. I suggest exercising if you want energy.

Unless you have a medical reason for a B12 deficiency (stomach disorder), then you should not be receiving a B12 shot for energy. See your doctor to make sure you don't have iron deficiency anemia, a thyroid disorder, electrolyte imbalance, or a thousand other things wrong.
