that depends. if the glass is refilled at your table with a pitcher, then it's ok. if the waiter/waitress/bartender takes it from you (even if you can still see it!) they must give you a fresh glass per health regulations.

I am assuming by "allowed", you are wondering if it is acceptable. And the answer is yes, if it is an alcoholic drink with ice in it, you can ask to keep the same glass so that you keep your "seasoned" ice. However a beer mug or pilsner glass that has to be put up to the tap should not be re-used, as it is not sanitary to have your used glass against a tap that will be used to provide beer for others.

No. Under eec rulings. this is because any residue you may leave behind could contain fluid and bacteria from your mouth. The glass is filled with a nozzle that is inserted into the glass therefore potentially contaminating the nozzle and every pint thereafter. Would you want someone else's nasty??

Definitely not with draft beer. The beer nozzel is placed in the glass and cross contamination can occur via the nozzel to another glass .A fresh clean glass every time .You dont want to drink beer that has been in contact with someone elses

In the UK no, bar staff should use a clean glass every time they serve a fresh drink, if however you are drinking a bottled beverage and you choose to top up the glass you have that is fine.

Different communities have different health codes. When I tended bar a few years ago, new glass every time. Much safer.

I don't think you are supposed to, but I've had glasses refilled and there was no problem with it, but I think with health and safety and regulations and stuff, you are supposed to. unless its like a glass that you refill yourself from a bottle of wine you have already purchased etc.

Yes, it's fine. Some people who drink certain libations insist on it - such as many of my friends who enjoy Manhattans. Some Martini drinkers are the same way.
