I said something beautiful about Atheism, and in fact, I didn’t even mention Christianity, but so many Christians took it as a personal attack on them. Is this not a persecution complex that some have? Why can some people not accept love in all forms?

It's a little funny, of all the hateful things to be offended by, that's what some people chose.

I have said before, those who see hate in others are in fact, seething with it themselves.

Your right. I took offense, and my apologies to you. I dont know if youve been on this board long, but generally, there is alot of intolerance by atheists AND christians, and sometimes, for me atleast, defense mode kicks in.

My apologies, it was a beautiful sentiment about Atheism.

I just clicked on your avatar, and it seems you pay a lot of attention in this topic, christianity, atheism... You are saying now that christians took it as a personal attack on them? When you have been asking questions which I believe are controversial (like the one about god forgiving sins...), I mean, of course you have the right to ask questions, seek opinions, etc, but you seem to put yourself on the line with what you've been saying. I myself am a Christian, I have friends who are atheist, and friends who are of different religions. We are very tolerant of each other and never have I have no issues with their believes, their religions. Even if we do talk about it, our discussions are polite, and I find them very informative at times. I suppose it could be the way you phrased some of your sentences, which people find offending.

I agree with you.
As a Christian I can say that sometimes we take things the wrong way and can be quick to call "persecution", perhaps to make others look bad when for centuries we made ourselves look bad. Inquisitions, witch hunts, etc. all that stuff was done in the name of Christ and is shameful.
And so to you, I apologize. I may not agree with you theologically, but I do respect you and others.

I don't understand what could be beautiful about Atheism. I am a Christian, and I don't have a hateful bone in my body. The most beautiful thing to me is accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Everybody is entitled to their on opinion. But why wait until you get sick with cancer, a bad car accident, or something tragic before you acknowledge Christ?Do it now and live in peace forever!!!!!!!!

You're right. Christ embodied tolerance yet a lot of Christians practice intolerance of anything that doesn't conform to their beliefs.

That was a nice thing you posted earlier, but apparently, if you don't agree with some people on here, then you are attacking them...

Yes, it is.
There's another current post that imagines there might be a "civil war" of everyone else vs. christians.
Very paranoid.
Persecution complex, indeed.
