Get some baby teething gel and rub it on your gums every 10 mins for the hour before you go into the dentist. You will not even feel the needle go in!! I do this every time as I was a nervous wreck before I found this by accident (had put some gel on an ulcer!)...good luck...;

Yup the needle is large and long and it leaves a big hole in your cheek if they don't do it right. Naw I'm kidding honey, I used to be scared but now it's cool. Some offices have a an awesome stereo system for you to listen to music and others have a t.v. or both which is hooked up to cool headphones. You can't hear a thing and the shot, well, they put Novocaine to numb the area, tell them to pack it in good and the shot is just a little pinch on the inside of your cheek and then you can't feel a thing. Not a thing!
You'll be fine - today's dental technology has drastically improved where pain was one are they focused on to make their patient more comfortable. Don't worry - bring your own MP3 or Ipod if you want. Good Luck and Smile!

Ok there is notting to be scared of at all. Every one is scared of they dentist (most people even at your age). I am a dentist and I know what way people feel like when the come in. However, they will do is but some jell on you gum and then the will give you an injection. But I’m sure if you tell them your scared they will only give you haft of the injection now and when the give you they other part of it. You will not feel it going into you. So do not be a scared.

It's not really that bad. The dentist will rub some stuff on the area to kind of numb it before he gives you the shot. It's just a little pinching sensation when he gives the shot and it's over in a flash! Be honest with your dentist and tell him/her that your really nervous and they will do everything they can to help you.

It's o.k to be scared but these days going to the dentist is much less painful than it used to be. If your dentist applies a topical gel anesthetic to the gums/cheek first all you will feel is slight pressure. If they don't use this you will feel a prick and sting but it really only last a few seconds and then you will be good and numb.
Goodluck, be brave.

I cant speak for all Dentist, but the Majority of them use topical anes on a q-tip to slightly numb the area where they will inject the anesthetic. Its a few second procedure that makes the whole rest of the work painless. You will do fine! Just close your eyes and think of something pleasant.

I'm freaked out about needles in my mouth too ... as if when we were kids it didn't scare us or something, thats the part that gets me! If the dentist does it right, you can't feel a darned thing! Ask them to keep the pre-numbing gel on longer, and if he doesn't, ask him to shake you cheek while he does it, i find that helps a lot!!
Good Luck!

No. It feels kinda weird (like a pinch or something) just for a second, and then the shot is done. And after you get your filling put in and the numbness wears off, you won't feel a thing.

well i just had my tooth taken out and it really wasn't bad as i taught it will be. i was very surprised at the "NO PAIN" sensation i felt after wards. it was cool it really doesn't hurt. it feels like a cold freeze in your mouth that tickles! trust me you'll be fine better off with that pain in your mouth after the filling fell out right? I'll hold your hand in spirit :)
