Ask your sister what her children call her, "mom"/"dad"/"first name".

Keep a lid on the fact that your sister was born in a male body. Watch out for her and be ready to protect her. Talk with her about your fear that she may be ridiculed / attacked.

And most importantly, ignore these ignorant, intolerant "jerry springer attending" jerks who are telling you that your sister is "immoral"/"gross". Consider the source.

Well, I baby sat two girls who's father had a sex change. They called her Mida, as in "my dad", but it sounds like a female title or name.

Well, it could make family members uncomfortable...I hope her wife is accepting of this situation too...the best you can do is go with the flow and remember, this is the same person you grew up with, personality wise.

She is now a female, your sister and would prefer to be referred to as a female. It would be more respectful if you tried to keep this in mind and refer her as a female. It could get easier as time goes by. It's not an easy adjustment! Does she have a different legal name now? I know a few people who went through this as well!

1-Listen to what they call her because since your brother had the operation he/she is now your sister. 2-I understand how small towns can be very closed minded and ridicule the situation. I don't however know if anything can be done about ignorant people who ridicule.

Why are you people being so mean to this person who is asking for our help?

Fred

Go directly to the source of your delema...ask your (old brother) new sister how SHE should be addressed!
Why strain the brain wondering ..... ask her how much if any details SHE wants shared outside the family (neighbors, etc..)
Then be caring and share the info with your parents so everyone is on the same page !

Aren't relitives just great !
Just when you think life can't get alittle more complicated ...Bam ...guess whos comming to Dinner !

Enjoy the holidays ..... well try ...

That's a tough one, but since she is now a woman I would say call her by whatever she feels most comfortable with. She has it the hardest, although you may feel differently. She has to deal with the ridicule outside so please try and make it as comfortable inside when she is with her family. Talk to her before the gathering so it's not so uncomfortable.

You need to let your sis know how you feel. I'm sure she will understand and calm your fears. All that matters is that she's made a life for herself, and that they're all truly happy. They are the ones who need to deal with life every day. You merely need to love and accept them. It doesnt matter what anyone else thinks. She's your sister now. So I expect that's how she'd prefer to be addressed.....

Personally there is nothing you could do about any of the stuff you are worried about. If I were you I would be thinking about how I was going to ask him/her if I can see it.

If she is now a "she", I'm sure the kids call her "mom".
