Mon cherie is French and means my dear or maybe my darling (somewhat between the two in intimacy I think). In German you can say "Mein Schatz".

French actually, it means "my favorite"
It could loosely mean "my dear' or "my darling" as many have stated, but the term is not limitd to people. A car, a desert, a book, any of these could be "mon cherie"
And your spelling was correct for an english version of the phrase, despite what Mr. Ed claimed.

It's French and it means My darling, or My dear, or My sweetheart . . .
By the way, being French, it would have to be spelt either:
Mon cheri, or
Ma cherie.
The "e" at the end of "cherie" indicates that the "darling" is feminine.

Mon cherie is not German, it's ungrammatical French.
Ma cherie means literally "my cherished (female) one."
Mon cheri means "my cherished (male) one."
