Just a weird thought...they use real human hair for hair extensions and weaves and stuff, right? Well, where are all these people that grow their hair really long and then cut it off? Where do you sell your hair? I've heard of "locks for love" for cancer patients. Can you imagine just doing that for a living? Growing your hair and then cutting it all off? Where are these people?

My daughter had really long hair all of her life but when she took up running she decided to give her hair to Locks of Love. It has to be done a specific way or they won't accept it. Unless your hair grew at a rate unknown to most of us, you certainly couldn't do it for a living. People do this all over the world and I truly admire those whose hair ends up in wigs for the children who lose their hair during chemo.

My sister in law did locks for love. They didn't give her any money and her hair was all damaged from not trimming it. Cancer patients would be better off getting volunteer time or money than what they got in that case.

The hair comes from prisoners and people in under privaliged countries where women and men have no choice but to sell their hair for money. They reason their hair is long I presume is that they cant afford to cut it.

some religions in Asia find it customary to cut off all the hair at certain times of the hair as a type of offering to their god. this hair is collected from temples, washed, straightened, dyed and packaged to be glued or sown into the heads of women with little hair (or women with a sufficient amount of hair - but want even longer hair)!

I have no idea where you'd go to sell your hair. I've donated my hair - and one of my daughters has, too - to Locks for Love because I can't imagine how it must be to not have hair for those little kids. (I also donate blood when I can.)
