I had braces forever. I couldnt STAND wearing the rubber bands during the day. It really depends on how fast your teeth move, but what I did (and I'm not recommending this....just stating facts..) is I doubled (sometimes tripled) up on the strength of rubber bands and wore them only at night ..and a few hours into the day, but not for the whole day. My orthodontist always saw a difference. What I mean by double up is if he gave me a thin rubber band to wear, i'd switch to the thick heavy ones and wear them at night...if I was suppose to wear one of the thick heavy ones, I'd double up and wear two in the same spot. I dont know if you want to do this because when i woke up my teeth were freaking sore....but to me it was better than wearing them all day.

-also, the reason i had them on for soooo long, was because A-my orthodontist is the most anal man on earth and wouldnt remove them til he thought my teeth were PERFECT! ....and B- For the longest time I was waiting til like 3 days before my appointment before i'd start wearing my rubber bands and obviously this wasnt enough time for my teeth to move. So it was a mixture of his fault and mine but finally I realized he wasnt ever going to take them off if i didnt get serious so I started wearing them every night.

Yes, you have to wear the rubber bands all day. Because it is part, of how much you can open your mouth. I hope this helps. In addition, the woes bite is when a rubber bands breaks in your mouth. I hope this helps you.

The ortho should have told weather to wear them in the day time or the night time. usually they tell you to wear the rubber bands all day and night except when eating and to change them at least three times daily . but as were all going to say ask your DR he can fill you in on all the little details that will get through this brace wearing time.

You need to wear them all day if you want to get them off quicker. If you only wearing them at night the job will still get done, but it will take a lot longer because then during the day, your teeth are lose and have a chance to move back a bit towards their original position, so you'll be taking 2 steps forward at night and 1 step back during the day. Just take them off to eat and leave them on the rest of the time.

Your orthodonist should have told you how often he/she wants you to wear the rubber bands. Just keep in mind that the more often you wear them, the faster your teeth will be straightened, and the sooner you get to have your braces taken off.

i recomend wearing them all the time. like the person before me the more you follow the orders of the ortho the faster you can get them off. however (i have something extra to add), when i was wearing the rubber bands, i followed my ortho's orders and my jaw shifted so fast that my bite was overcorrected and i seriously messed up the allignment of my jaw. so trust the ortho, but if you notice you're starting to get an underbite watch out.

Wearing them all day will make the process go a lot faster, so it depends on how quick you want those braces off. I wore mine all the time, because I wanted that metal out of my mouth sooner!

In all seriousness, do what your orthodontist tells you to do. It's worth it.
