I have an ancestor with this name - a woman born around 1880. I've never come across it before, although a search on the net threw up a Saint Tryphina on a restricited access site.

Comes frome the Bible Tryphaina meaning softness or gentleness.Sometimes spelled Tryphena

I have a freind named Tryphina. All I know from her is that she was named after a St. that her grandmother was named after. Sorry Im not more help.
