Yes and no. in and of itself, magnetism has not currently been harnessed. Magnetism is used to generate electrical currents and to transfer electrical currents into mechanical energy (motion).

Not really.

Magnetism could be used to generate an electrical field but energy is needed to drive this system in the first place.
