Q. Why is Krsna blue?
A. Krsna's complexion is not exactly blue. It is the color 'syama' (bluish black), which according to Indian aesthetic theory is the color of conjugal love. Krsna is the God of love and conjugal love in particular. Thus he is the presiding deity of this color as well. According to Rupa Goswami's Bhaktirasamrita-sindhu, each of the twelve rasas are represented by corresponding colors.

it represents having seen the blue pearl of enlightenment. it means these beings have attained true self awarness or enlightenment
the blue pearl is the access to the Divine that lies within each one of us.
there are mediation techniques that focus on attaining the blue pearl
"The scriptures describe this Blue Pearl as the divine light of Consciousness which dwells within everyone. It is the actual form of the Self, our innermost reality, the form of God which lives within us. ... within the Blue Pearl are millions and millions of universes. The Blue Pearl contains the entire cosmos."

Just as they sky and ocean look blue when we are far from them, but when we go near them we see that they dont have any color......
so also when we are far from god, we see him as one with a form and a name.....but when we go near him, we see that he is formless, and nameless.....all this names like christ, rama, allah will disapper.....all religious symbols disappear......and only god remains..
These Idols in hinduism have a philosophical Idea behind them...
This color blue , represents the monistic thought in hinduism...
for example, the lord krisna has a peacock feather on this crown,
this represents the universe,
what it means is that god wears the universe just like an ornament but is not controlled by it...

i've read in a textbook that it represents the inifinity of the universe and hindus believe everything has the essence of god, not that everything is god (most people have it wrong)
but then again, textbooks are mad whack, so i don't know, maybe to distinguish them from other humans??
