People with some experience and some smarts realize that stereotypes are something to be disregarded...once you get to know people a little, you can see that ethnicity's not 'all that', either positive OR negative...but there's some people out there that do believe they're divinely blessed based on the paint job...
my experience is that idle hands do the devil's work, and the more idle time people have, the more likely they are to trash on their neighbors etc., regardless of color.

I think any trait you'd care to shake a stick at can largely be attributed to your upbringing, your surroundings, your culture etc., moreso than ethnicity. If your parents made a point of raising you right, it'll reflect in how you turn out later on in life. If your parents neglected you, that will show out, too. Character will take you further in life than skin color, if someone's trashing on you for being hispanic, show some class and don't play along...but do be aware there's plenty of agitators out there that think they're 'all that', and steer clear of em, regardless of skin color.

You can not escape stereotypes and I have learned as a sociologist that each one of us has our own stereotype in our minds of how a certain race or people are perceive to be. They may differ from person to person. That is the unique thing.
so, you are putting your own stereotype on yourself by saying that you think others perceive mexicans to be theives.
I am white and I never thought that.
my sterotype of mexicans is that they are hard working people that have large families and like to dress nice (?) and that the women are very beautiful. those are not negative stereotypes at all so I guess you would like those?
try not to focus on the negatives and rejoice in the positives.

Stereotypes are born in uncomplicated terms from lack of understanding. I commend on your achievements at Berkeley and that i salute your father for being a real function sort. everybody who believes that Black human beings carry an unique on drug procuring and advertising is a fool. The stereotype i might maximum prefer to disspell is that which shows all white all of us is racists/rednecks. many human beings have developed wayyyyyyyy up the chain and actually include the marvelous thing approximately all cultures. On a lighter be conscious, I hate the theory that "white boys won't be in a position to bounce" and that white human beings won't be in a position to bounce.

I'm Asian, and although I laugh at the jokes I hear about my race, I always forget that people don't automatically think of me as any different from any other Asians, LOL. So, that backfires.

I hate everything about who I am. People hate me just by looking at me. By default, people disapprove me, and I have to put on quite a show just to get them to unclench their fists.

I've learned that- although there is such a thing as talking too much, as an Asian I have to really run my mouth in order to prove that I have some things in common with "normal" people. So, in a nutshell, I guess you could say that the stereotype I hate most is that "we" ("I," more specifically) can't speak English, have no sense of humor, and have nothing in common with anyone else who is "normal" (synonymous with "non-Asian"). Life sucks (BTW, I don't want this to change anything for any Asians other than me, if it changes anything. I'm working for me, myself, and no one else).

I am white - so I must be a racist. People always assume white people are racist and don't try to understand or give "minorities" respect. I would like to mention that my uncle is mexican, my cousin is filipino, my half sister is spanish (who is married to a samoan) and my husband is Pakistani.

It's been said already but I'd like to second the one about all whites being wealthy racists.

Not racist comments so much as sexist.

I'm a woman so I'm not good for thinking or for answers. I'm just a decoration. Not taken seriously.
