OK...my 6 year old daughter is a little overweight and becoming subconscious of it too. She says things like I am too fat, or people call me chubby. She always talks about exercising and eating better like she says we shouldn't eat pizza anymore or eat out ever. She also has already started developing boobs and I make her wear like sports bras everyday and she hates it. I don't know what to do, I have had her in sports and things but it doesn't help. Should I put her on a diet or what???

Takr her to her pediatrician. Call before hand and let him know your concerns. Perhaps there is a medical condition contributing to her weight problem. If not he should be able to guide you as to how to reduce her calorie intake while meeting her nutritionsl needs. You can help keeping her active by taking her out for walks, biking and skating. Physical play is importantant exercise.

Start physical play...don't call it exercise....do fun things like racing in the park.Throwing a ball..stuff like that will be good for your guy's quality time. Also,if she doesn't like to wear the sports bra's maybe they are a little too small...try a bigger size or see if you can get her to wear undershirts instead.
Before putting her on a diet...you should definitely get her to eat a good breakfast EVERY DAY. This helped with me personally..it will take a while (2-3 weeks) before you notice a difference.
Be sure to talk to her pediatrician...maybe they can help with activity ideas ...also NO FAST FOOD...also there is a lot of calories in all pre-packaged foods.
Good Luck and teach her to recognize her good internal qualities not her physical qualities.

Putting her on a diet in her stage of life is quite risky ( because of the lack of very important nutrients -- in diets -- ) .

But since she is overweight I advise you to do a healthy '' diet '' .

Start by doing things , step by step , and don't rush things .

And another thing don't use strict words such as '' never '' , '' ever '' , '' must '' , etc ... because those words are recipes for a natural disaster and / or failing at goals ( such as losing weight ) because of their strictness ( and because people have a overwhelming desire to break rules or they just can't handle it ) .

Well the other thing to successful goals starts at the mind ... such as thoughts ( or the way we think ) and the things we say can influence our self-esteem and the things we do , ex : a person who is often eulogized has a higher self-esteem .

I also think that putting your daughter in sports is already a big step but she isn't losing weight , maybe because she isn't targeting the right areas ( of the body ) or she isn't eating healthily or maybe she just needs encouragement and assistance from the people she loves ( to fully achieve her goals ) .

Oh and don't forget to calculate your daughter's ideal weight ( Body Mass Index - BMI ) so that she doesn't '' go '' to an unhealthy weight or just '' stop '' at the weight that isn't intended for her .

I hope that you find a good program for your daughter and good luck in your daughter losing weight .

Listen to your daughter. If she is saying "let's go for a walk" then go for a walk.
I know it is hard as a busy mother to cook good food and pizza is so easy but your daughter is telling you that she wants no fast food or pizza. You shouldn't have to put her on a diet but you should make sure you are feeding her healthy foods. It will be good for the whole family.
