God isn't offended more by one sin than another. Sin is sin. whether it's a little "white" lie, or murder. It's all sin. So sex before marriage isn't any worse than masturbation.
Masturbation is a sin, because you're fantasizing in your mind about someone who isn't your wife. According to the bible, that's considered adultery.
Matthew 5:28
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

There is not a single word in the Bible on the subject of masturbation. A lot of people will quote the story of Onan to say it's bad, but that is not masturbation, it's coitus interruptus, and Onan was doing it simply because he knew any children he had with his wife would be considered his *brother's* children, not his.
I repeat, the Bible says NOTHING AT ALL on the subject of masturbation.
The only problem is that "sex for one" can become obsessive, and over time can cause problems of desensitization of the genitalia, making it progressively harder to have a satisfactory orgasm without direct manual stimulation.
The Bible doesn't say anything one way or the other about it, though. Fornication, incest, homosexuality and adultery, yes. These are all things that God dislikes very much.

God is not offended, He is understanding and full of love. The message in the bible about sex before marriage was to help certain groups of people restrain from sleeping around. God glorifies sex, He invented it. Having sex with the one and same partner for life, is for our benefit. As for masturbation, man has made it taboo and shameful, and as I said earlier, God is understanding and full of love.

Don't forget that the bible was written by people. They had different ideas hundreds or thousands of years ago.
God doesn't mind what you do. Pagans have a very sensible law - do what you like as long as you do not hurt anybody else - the actual saying is "Do as you will, an' it harm none". Brilliant stuff. So,carry on and enjoy your life!

The bible says absolutely nothing about masturbation--the sin of onan was pulling out during intercourse--I'm sure that God doesn't mind release of that stuff by manual operations if no partner is available

Neither is recommended.
The prohibition against self-pleasuring is derived from the episode of Judah's son dying after 'spilling his seed on the ground' with Tamar.

Can God be offended? Considering the things that go on in this world? These are the least of his worries surely?

Neither. Loving the body your given is a natural act, and so is loving someone else. Feeling pleasure is a gift given to us by the Creator.
