Let me guess. You are going to get a tattoo.
Anyway, I think you should not take pills or alcohol and experience the pain. If this makes you think twice then maybe you shouldn't be doing whatever it is you plan on doing.

The mind is a wonderful thing. If you keep telling yourself that it's all in your head and use your mind over matter, then you will essentially grow a tolerance for pain. By using that, I was able to grow a very high threshold for pain. But there is no "quick-fix" other than Advil or Motrin. If you are talking about a tattoo/piercing, then I will tell you it's more of a slight burn/stinging sensation than pain. You'll be over it in no time if you focus on other things, just let your mind wander.

Any proper tattoo/piercing parlour will not let you get done if you are under the influence of anything legal or not. Relaxation techniques like visualizing you are some where else, deep breathing are the only ones allowed. Meditation would be another.
Emla patches are local topical anaesthetic you can buy. I use them for my kids all the time. They work really well.

It is unethical for them to do such major work without any pain management. You could go into shock. Do not drink or take pills which are not recommended by the dentist. Call the dentist and discuss other pain options. Could they put you out fully, what options do they have for you? Is the dentist aware of this condition, and if he is, find another dentist.

♥OMG what are you going to do that is so painful. I would say pills because alcohol may numb up the pain but your head will be in the toilet the next day and you'll have a hangover.♥

Alcohol helps a little, pills are probably better, but you have to consider how those will affect whatever it is you're doing. What are you doing?

errr what's the activity?
Is it localized in a certain area?

Need more information, other then that a general pain killer is the only thing that could be suggested.

Tylenol always helps me.
I used it instead of all that morphine and other heavy duty drugs they wanted to give me when I had my knee re-broken and pins put in.

I ought to be a spokesperson for Tylenol--lol
