One of CTS's symptoms (and usually the first to show up) is hand numbness. There's three reasons this occures... 1.) the ulnar nerve is trapped which causes compression on the nerve causing the numbness or 2.) the nerves are not firing correctly or 3.) circulation has been impaired.

Warm soaks usually afford patients some limited, short term relief. You can also purchase some over the counter wrist braces (if you don't have them already) which will afford you some relief as they keep the hands/wrists in proper alignment.

There is a band around the inside of your wrist that does not change size. When the nerves, tissues and ligaments going through the band get inflammed as with carpel tunnel, they start to press up against the inside of the band and soon blood is not flowing properly, hence while you have a numbing feeling. You have to get the inflammation down. Try Motrin and see if that helps. Make sure to eat with it as it is hard on the tummy.

carpal tunnel has to do with pressure on the nerves that pass through your wrist.
