Wow, this could be a lot of things, but having jaundice is really disturbing, indicating a potentially very serious life threatening problem. Certainly GERD associated with an esophageal stricture (narrowing of the esophagus) could cause many of his symptoms but not jaundice.

My concern is even if you could figure out what is wrong by going to a website, he would still need one or more treatments. He probable will need a variety of testing, xrays, blood tests etc. to figure everything that is wrong . (It may be more than one thing.)

Is there anyway you can talk him into seeing a doctor? Is there another person, perhaps a minister, friend or relative, that could talk him into it? Perhaps a combination of people?

What could this be? Here is an incomplete list: GERD, esophageal stricture, peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, gall stones, pancreatitis, hepatitis, AIDS, cirrhosis, a bowel obstruction (due to his hernia possibly); cancer including stomach, esophagus, pancreatic, colon. Most of these conditions are potentially very serious and left untreated could cause death.

ALL melanoma is existence threatening. Some take longer to develop than others. But if left unchecked and untreated, the top is constantly going to be the equal... loss of life. Treatment can provide him a hazard for it not to result in loss of life. If he desires to quit cure, or retain, is his alternative. Quality vs Quanity is a query each sufferer asks themselves whether or not they wish to invite it or no longer. But DONT make the alternative to quit cure pondering his melanoma isnt existence threatening, in view that it IS.
