Not the wedding gown that is a personal special moment for you and your parents. Trust me. Let them take part in the cake tasting, or flower choosing. It was my mom and dad that helped me, with my gown that was a special moment I will not forget.

Yes I think you should ask her to help you if you want her to. It sounds like a good idea, it allows you two to spend some quality time together doing something fun and this could be really good for you two now that you are marring into the family. The only thing is to be sure of before you go is let her know what you are looking for and be sure that she knows you will be making all the final decisions on which dress you will be getting! Good luck with the wedding, I hope all goes well and you find the wedding dress of your dreams! Have fun!!!

Most brides to be will take the future MiL as well as her mother with her when she goes to pick out her dress. This allows both mothers to be part of the wedding process as well as allows them to feel needed in some way. But of course make sure that they do not overrule you in your choice of dress. THis is about your day and you want to look your best in a dress you like.

YES!! It's a wonderful idea.
If you have a good relationship with your mother-in-law, then I
believe it would be one of the nicest things you could do to
strengthen your friendship.
It's always good to get along with a mother-in-law, and by inviting her to help you choose your dress, (which is VERY special)
she will feel really 'special' herself, thanks to your kindness toward her.
You are about to marry her son, so go get her and spend the whole day together, shopping for a dress, having lunch and just enjoying the day with each other.
You will be so glad you asked for her oppinion of the dress you
will wear to walk down the isle. GO GET HER!!!!
By the way; CONGRATULATIONS dear!!

I would say to find something else for her to do. The wedding dress is more personal. You have to wear what you feel beautiful in, and you don't need anyone (not even your own mother), telling you she doesn't like the sleeves.
Perhaps she could help make some of the favors, or centerpieces?

If you don't ask her to help with that then get her involved some other way. Flowers, decorations etc...
I was very hurt when my daughter in law left me out of their day.
I had the rehearsal dinner which is customary but was not asked to be a part of any of the other at all.

Maybe take her to a few of your vendors...every woman loves going to look for dresses! Let her know that her opinion is wanted, but the final decision will be yours, of course. She will love to be involved I'm sure!

What I did was have my mom and FMIL on either side of me while I showed them ideas for wedding dresses. In fact, they BOTH agreed on the one dress I was hoping they'd like!
I think FMIL would be tickled you asked her advice/help!

You should ask her she would probably really enjoy being a part of your wedding, it would be a great start to becoming a part of her family. Ask her!
