No need to go to dealer - you can get a new keyfob from eBay. There are also programs available on eBay which will tell you how to program the key.
Don't know the exact way it is done, but programming the car to respond to your key is done via a combination of handlings - it really isn't much of a deal.
Do remember when having the key cut - you need an additional two keys with you.

The key fob doesn't cost much, but the dealer will charge a fortune to program it to the vehicle. And I think the dealer won't sell a key without it being programmed to the vehicle. As far as I know, no one has cracked the Ford passive anti theft system to enable the aftermarket to program keys. Go to the dealer and get ready for a shock as to how much it will cost. Sorry mate.

You can't.Most newer vehicle remote keys have a chip inside.Be prepared to show ID and proof of ownership for a replacement.

If you have a red chip key(the one where the handle is totally red) you can get a key cut at any key cutting place already fitted with a chip then you put red key in ignition and turn so many times then put your new key in and turn so many times it should programe new key..Unsure how many turns though .or go to polar no-body beats the bear except me!!!

Your probably better off going back to the Ford garage to get one, at least then you know that it will be a proper one and can go back there if more problems arise.

You can't. You need to provide ID and evidence of ownership to a dealer. It is your car, isn't it?
