how do you make a hinge for a folding drawbridge with 1/8 x 1/8in
balsa wood, popcicle sticks, rope, lego gears, glue. I NEED ANSWERS!!
Please help

I used to build model air planes with balsa. A decent hinge can be made using gauze strips.

You have two surfaces which you are hinging together placed edge to edge. On the left piece glue one end of the strip to the top, attach the other gauze end to the right piece on the bottom surface. Place another strip along side but attach it to the opposite sides from the first strip. (Viewed from the side the gauze is placed in an X shape)

If you don't have gauze , strips of paper will do. (Any ting flexible)
The rope maybe too thick to use by itself, try unwrapping it into smaller strands...


If you have string you may also try sewing a hinge together.

Poke a sires of alternating holes in the balsa with the tooth pick approx 1/4 from each edge. Then thread some string through the holes.

How about toothpicks and drinking straws? Those little cocktail straws would be ideal, and round (not flat) toothpicks.
