The real power in prayer is to come into the presence of Almighty God. It is a conversation with God, not a wish list. Yes, there are times God will intervene - but when it is His choice to do so. God is not a wish machine that if you put in enough prayer out pops your wish. There are T.V. preachers that claim to have God in their pockets - they claim they can heal - only God can heal, and only when it is within His perfect will. Even the Apostle Paul was not healed - although He prayed for healing. It was not in God's will that he be healed. We cannot see everything clearly - we see only a small part, and that part from our very limited perspective. Once all is revealed, we will understand why God made the choices He makes.

How can we question God's authority and decisions? We don't know what God does. We ask for His help based on the limited information we have and the very narrow views of life and peace and world needs. God does what God does for a reason. We do have free choice, you know. Free choice means people are going to make wrong choices. Hiltler enlisted Germans to kill Jews. They had the choice not to do so, but chose to follow a charistmatic leader who was wrong. God is active, involved, caring, and ever present. Don't mistake your intended outcomes for His lack of action.

How do you know God did nothing? Besides, God is not a fairy sprite just here to give us whatever we want. We have to work within His will. He has an ultimate plan, and for the fulfillment of that plan some unpleasnat things have to happen. God always comforts those who seek Him in the midst of trouble. He doesn't always take the trouble away, but He will always be with us in it.

God does not violate man's Free Will. He instead gives us the ability to overcome the world's evils. He has granted me the resources to sponsor a poor child in India...which I do. He has blessed me with the emotional strength to overcome an extremely rocky divorce. He has also blessed me with the peace of mind that comes with knowing that no matter how bad things may look, I'm going to live with him for all eternity.

To begin, Christians are not the only ones who pray. Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Native Americans, even some non-affiliated persons pray. As for the power of prayer. If you've never tried it, don't knock it. Jesus loves you.

Prayer must line up with Gods will. Sometimes his answer is No.
Everything happens, even the bad stuff, for a purpose. We dont always get the answer we want, but we always get the answer we need.

Or, why do people get *worse* when they know people are praying for them?
