1 Corinthians 2:10, we see the characteristic of omniscience in the Holy Spirit. “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.”

The Apostle Paul clearly taught that we receive the Holy Spirit the moment we believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior.

So, seeking God, that pull to be closer to him is the Holy Spirit working in us, right? Is that a sign, to us Christians, that we have been saved, and by seeking God we are fulfilling the Holy Spirit?

If non-Christians want to answer with real answers, or what YOUR religion says about it, go right ahead. If however you feel the need to be rude or hateful, save yourself the time, and post it elsewhere, it will be ignored.

To start off with, I'm a Christian. I have been since I was 5.
The Holy Spirit does not only work in those who are saved, it pulls toward God those who are unbelieving. You are definitely filled with the Spirit when you accept Christ as your savior, but He is working in you before hand. Nobody can convince a man he needs to be saved; only the Holy Spirit can truly open a person's eyes to the truth of the Gospel.
And yes, when we as Christians realize that we are not perfect and we seek to come ever closer to our Father, that is the Holy Spirit working within us.
In closing, I'd just like to say that I can not imagine being so blind or proud as to ignore and push away the fact that there is a God. It is so obvious in all of His wonderful creation. It absolutely staggers my mind that someone could reject all the signs He has given us.

Sit in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
Sit and relax in an upright posture with a straight spine.
Allow your breathing to become quiet and regular.
Try not to think, or think about thinking.
Allow your awareness of the body and mind to fall away.
Be still, and "Know that I am God" .
The holy spirit is right here , right now, this very moment.
Being "saved" is not separate from being a good Christian. They are the same thing. Find your answers to seeking the spirit by removing the obstacles in your own mind. You will not find God in a book, but you will find God in all things if you simply look with a clear vision.
Be well. From a Buddhist.
ps. meditation is good for Christians too!

Precisely. Seeking God -- experiencing that pull to be closer to Him is the Holy Spirit working within you.

According to the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit, sent by God, is the divine principle of activity in the world.

For Christians the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity, which is three aspects of God, consisting of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Able to bestow gifts on individuals, especially the gift of prophecy, the Holy Spirit aided in the conception of Jesus (Matt. 1:18-20); descended to Jesus at his baptism.

The Holy Spirit draws people to Christ. He has a threefold ministry.

Ministry One: With

When we lived according to our own desires, before we came to Christ, there was a point where the Holy Spirit began to speak to us about our sinful condition, and our need for a Savior. We likely avoided the topic, drowning out the voice of the Spirit with other activities. It is during this time that the Spirit comes alongside us, moving us toward conviction of sin (John 16:7-8). This coming alongside us ministry is described by the Greek word "para." Para means "with." The Holy Spirit is "with" a person before their conversion, testifying about sin, righteousness and judgment.

Ministry Two: In

When a person is convicted of their sin, repents, and receives Jesus as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes "in" a believer, and lives within them. The Greek word "en" is translated "in" in English. Every believer who places their trust in Jesus Christ has the Holy Spirit dwelling in them (1 Corinthians 6:19).

Ministry Three: Upon

As the believer surrenders to God, they can experience a powerful, victorious life in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 5:18 says, "Stop getting drunk with wine, which leads to wild living, but keep on being filled with the Spirit."

Being open to the Holy Spirit, and being submitted to God, we can receive power in the Spirit. It is this power which makes the fulfilled Christian life possible. This power is from the Spirit "coming upon" the believer, giving them the ability to live for God. The Greek word translated "upon" is the word "epi." It isn't a matter of how much of the Holy Spirit you have, but how much the Holy Spirit has of you.

The Holy Spirit dwells within us after we accept Jesus into our hearts and repent of our sins.

If you seek a closer relationship with Jesus and the living God, spend more time with Him. It will strengthen your faith and your personal relationship.

I recommend daily Bible study, prayer, praise (www.klove.com) and worship. I do it to fill my cup daily. There's so much in this troubled and fallen world to drain our cup...so I fill mine up.

Here's some suggested reading...

New Christians:
Start with the book of John (fourth book in the New Testament. Once you’ve read it, read it again.

Bible Study:
Begin with the book of Jude (book before Revelation). Read each book from Jude to Matthew. Read daily. There’s no rush, take your time and study it. If you don’t understand it, pray about it. Ask God to reveal Himself.

There are 31 Proverbs. Read the chapter that coincides with the date. If today is the 1st, read chapter 1. Reading a Psalm everyday is also good idea.

Once you have a good understanding of the New Testament, begin studying the Old Testament. Start with Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament. Work your way back to Genesis…book by book. The Old Testament is the law, we as Christians can apply the principles of the Old Testament and live under the grace of Jesus Christ.

Enjoy!

The Word of the Lord is a hidden treasure.
His Holy Spirit within us reveals these treasures.
We will never know the truth, unless we have the spirit of truth in us.
If you want to know God’s heart and mind. Then you have to study – meditate – on his Word and listen to the Holy Spirit.

The day you give your life to Jesus Christ you have the Holy Spirit inside of you.
But you also have your own will.
In your walk with Christ you have to learn, to let go of your will and let God.

Think what you’re thinking, and if your thoughts are not in line with the Word of God.
You must change your thoughts.

But praise God the Helper is there to help us.

Yes we receive his spirit, which aids us in coming to know Him better.

Without God's spirit you can not come to know God.

Anointed Christians are filled with His spirit to be able to do the things God has commanded.

Since God is the Most Holy, anything issuing out from Him must be holy also.

You can also be baptised in the Holy Spirit which I'm not exactly sure of how to explain the difference except when you receive the gift of speaking in tongues you can pray to God even when you don't know what to pray for. That's pretty awesome.

1 cor. 12, I think. and Acts 2. It has more purposes than that, but it's a great one to start out with.

Yes, the Holy Spirit is working in us. He guides us into all truths and reminds us of the words that Jesus said.

Yes when you are saved you are sealed with the Holy Spirit as it says in Ephesians 1. The Holy Spirit is the one who teaches you all truth- and convicts you when you are wrong- keeps you grounded in the word of God and on that narrow path with the Lord. The Holy Spirit is God- God living in us...For He sent His spirit. It is God in us that draws us to Him, for no one seeks God on his own as it says in Romans 3:10. Without the Holy Spirit we would easily be led astray....for there is nothing good in us apart from Jesus Christ- and as Jesus also says "Apart from Me you can do nothing" Amen!

It is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of sin, draws us to Christ, authors the new birth, and bears witness that we are the children of God (saved). The new life (Spirit) in us causes us to seek a closer relationship with God.
