Pentrexyl
Semi-synthetic derivative of penicillin that functions as an orally active broad-spectrum antibiotic.

No, it's not legal to sell in the United States. But it seems that you can go to some of the Latino stores and buy it (even though it's illegal to buy and sell in the US).

Pentrexyl an antibiotic, and does contain penicilin. Though she should be careful the dosage she is giving to a baby. In Mexico, it is very common for ppl to automedicate themselves since there is no regulation on prescribed medication except for medicine containing hard substances that are dangerous. Though even other drugs taken without control can certainly be harmful, gosh! especially for babies.

I went to webmd.com and typed in pentrexyl, they didnt have anything about that. But they give you other websites that have that name in them I found another name for it called AMPICILLIN, I looked that up on webmd.com and here is what it says about it.....Ampicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.

I dont know if this is good for a baby, but it sounds like if everytime her baby gets sick this medicine will not work viral so maybe you should tell her to go to a different doctor. I hope I helped, Good Luck!!

It's a natural form of Ampicillin, which is an antibiotic. Not sure that it really does anything, but it is a natural supplement.
