We are going to Vegas with 20 people - all family on New Years Eve and some of my friends think I should tell him. I worried about our friendship - but everyone seems to think we would be great together. Im very confused.

We are very close when not at work we do know how to seperate the two. But I fear outside work would be akward if he doesnt want a relationship. He has mentioned before that he would never want to ruin our friendship. He wants to wait until he finds the right person before he enters into a realtionship and tells me I need to do the same thing. He promises me that I will be fine in the future and find the man of my dreams, but I need to have more patience. Little does he know he is the man of my dreams or maybe he does know. Some people say hes an idiot if he doesnt know. We are always together with our kids and I stay at his house all the time. We sleep in the same bed but no action - but thats our choice. We are very grown up about our friendship. We have had many oppurtunities but never strayed from our bond as friends. I want to ring in the New Year by telling him just so I dont ponder on it any longer. What do I have to lose. He would never fire me.

yes definitely!! if you dont, you'll regret it for the rest of your life, and will always think, just "what if i told him..what would happen, where would i be"
i always to have a guy best friend, and then have that friendship turn into something more...consider yourself lucky actually
BUT make sure that HE is your best friend too
sometimes we think that others are close to us, cus thats what we want to think, but really they dont feel the same way

I actually think you shouldn't tell him if he is your boss and you are IN LOVE with him. My issue here is that the being in love stuff fades.
Then you're screwed.
If you think the two of you may well have a good relationship, that might be a different matter. However it would need to be a good relationship given the power difference in your current status.
The issue always will be what happens when you fight or when you break up. You say that you are able to keep the work stuff out of the personal life - but many people cannot, especially when they are feeling a lot of turmoil and hot emotions (anger/lust/whatever).
Be careful. Safest option is to not let him know and go find someone else.
Safe is not always best. You will have to make your mind up on all of this.

I think since you have a lot to lose if it doesn't work out, I would first try flirting with him, giving him some teasing compliments and see how he reacts.
Not sure how close you two are, but I think you should probably start trying to talk to him more personally....ask him about other girls, talk about guys and see how he reacts.
Your friends say you two would be great together, you probably would, but first see if he's into it without telling him.

I think the biggest problem in your scenario is that he is your boss. If you profess your love and he rejects you, the office environment could suck. If you are willing to take that risk, go for it.

yes you need to let him know.Some times when you know someone so long and so close you will really fall in love with him for real.
