well it really depends on you. What do you plan on using it for etc.
Both are very good trucks. The new dodge ram with the hemi actually does wonders as far as gas mileage. The chevy on the other hand does have a little bit more in creature comforts.
Both are strong and both companies have overcome some reliability issues within the past few years. I wouldn't pur your trust in a magazine article as most of them have a bad tendency to become biased.
Basically dodge does have an advantage over the chevy in terms of hauling and cargo capacity.
Basically they both are good trucks and fair competition for the market. So it really comes down to checking them both out at the dealerships. Take a long test drive and decide what features you want and what you will be happy with. Don't let the dealership decide for you. As they will try.
Good luck

Go with the Dodge, the Hemi just rocks and sounds much better then the Chevy. As well as the fact that if you go diesel you'll get better gas mileage, just as much power, and it's a Cummins so it's gonna last. As well as the fact that you can't beat that front grill on the Dodge, it's menacing while the Chevy's is boring.

I would go with the Chevy personally. Our 1994 chevy 1 ton was rear ended the day after thanksgiving by a semi (6 car pileup). My husband and I drove our badly damaged chevy about a mile to get off I-70 while they towed the semi (it was definitely not driveable). A month later and about $10,000 worth of repairs (had great insurance) we got our truck back. Still have the truck and it is at 120,000 miles and runs like a new vehicle. 4 weeks prior to this, traded in a Ford Ranger. Would have been a pancake for sure otherwise. Definitely would not recommend Dodge mini vans. Under extended warranty, blew 2 holes in the transmission (defective product) fried the starter and got hit by a recall all under 70,000 miles.

in my experience ,go with the dodge.particularly if u want a diesel powered one, although the cummins is a 6 cylinder,it will out pull both the ford and chev diesel v-8s, while getting twice the fuel mileage.if ya need proof look how many people use cummins engines in the sled pull, as a note, several chevy owners have dropped in a cummins. for gas,it really depends on exactly what ya want to do with it, an what size class your going for,i.e half ton 3/4,1 ton.for 3/4 or one ton, get the dodge if your looking for a 4x4 model, because dodge has a real axle under the front end, only the halfton 4x4 has c-v joints.ive owned trucks from the big three, and my chevy was the least cooperative, pain in the **** to own,the truck has failed me several times, and had to be towed 3x.ive also seen many of them broken down while towing a trailer.chevy use to be good, but after 91 they turned to junk.matter of fact i traded in my bowtie for a set of horns

It depends on what you want to do with it. For towing go with the DODGE for out accelerating anything go with the chebbie (chevy) Although let me tell you the difference between the 2.
Dodge Ram 1500-5.7L Hemi V8 has 345hp and 380 lb ft of torque
4.7L SOHC V8 has 240hp and 310 lb ft
Chevrolet Silverado-5.3L V8 290hp and 290 lb ft of torque.
4.8L V8 270hp and 270lb ft of torque
Vortec Max 6.0L 345hp or 360hp and 380 lb ft of torque and end up paying close to $40k or more just to have this engine. Either way I would like to say that the dodge 5.7L would be a good priced truck to tow and as a daily driver without having to severly break the bank. Not to mention torque range on the chevy's tend to be higher than dodges. For example the dodge 5.7L cranks out all of it's max torque at 3200-4000rpm while the chevy will do it close to its redline. I don't know about you but that's unneeded wear and tear on the engine if you're going to use it for towing. PS that's probably why they're so good for out accelerating dodge and ford but can't tow worth a flip without breaking themselves. Anyway hope this helps you decide, Jess.

If you've got money to burn, either one is a good choice(Dodge is a gas hog & Chevy is a repair hog).
Do you have other options?
Ford trucks are good although newer ones are quite pricey.
Never thought i'd praise a foreign vehicle, but the Toyota Tundras are very good trucks.Maintnance, price & gas wise.

Toyota. I'm a U.S. Veteran, but been lied too by Chevy,Ford and Dodge.A Toyota with a 100,000 is better than any Mexico built U.S. truck.
