Do not answer this question if you want to call me a backyard breader or anything else of the sort. I recently bred my boxer and I want to know when should see her tummy poof out? We've been to the vet and did everything step by step so those of you that want to bash me for breeding my dog stay away because if I take offense to what you have to say I will report you. I tried to ask this question before and all I got was a bunch of name calling. To those of you who can help thank you. Oh yeah Iwas thinking having their ears cropped but I prefer them floppy opinions on that would be appreciated as well.

Sattori, I understand your point but i don't only want answers from people who agree with me. I was simply asking a factual quesion, which deserves a factual answer. I'm not asking for breeding opinions, or statistics and that is all I got last time. And no I don't think I will get their ears cropped. I like them floppy myself.

FYI Tyria i raise boxers for breeders who don't have time to do it themselves. hen they are weined they come to my house until they are sold. I am a stay at home mom and this is how i make money. This is just my first time as the breeder instead of the care taker. Clueless.

I have no comment/insult/etc., to make regarding the breeding aspect but quite sincerely, I hope that you do not have their ears clipped. I find it a disgusting, cruel and unnecessary thing to do and in fact it was made a criminal offense in the UK more than ten years ago. I hope everything goes well.................

No one can really answer that question because all dogs are different. I had one dog that didn't show until the last week of the puppies being born. Then I had one that showed right away. Depends on the dog. I know you must be anxious but give it time only time will tell. As for the ears being cropped I am glad I never had to even make that choice. I wouldn't know what I would do. I am use to seeing them cropped so to me it is funny looking when I see one that are floppy. Most vets won't do that anymore.
As for your dog, let nature take it's course. You be a granny soon. Good luck with the new puppies.

You should be able to notice her tummy pouching out as early as a month. Maybe sooner depending on how many puppies she has. She will probably get really big too. Boxers usually have 8 to 14 puppies, therefore she will be very fat and very miserable in her last days, I recommend bringing her inside the last week if she is not already. Also, I think cropping their ears makes them a "true boxer" they are just so pretty with cropped ears. The floppy ears just dosent make them look like Boxers. Also if you have never witnessed the birth, you may want to read up on it, sometimes they need a little help. I would definitly ask your vet what you can do to help her and what to expect and what to do if something goes wrong. I had to rush my dog to the clinic because her puppies were too large to pass in the birth canal and she was sgueezing them so tightly that it was killing them. I don't want you to freak out or anything but you do need to be aware of whats going to happen.

I want a puppy!!! Boxers are so cute. I dont think you should have their ears cropped. That should be up to the buyer. I like them floppy as well. When I bought my yorkie I was dissapointed that the breeder had cropper her allready. Plus I think its cruel. But thats just me.
FYI...There is nothing wrong with breeding dogs. I would much rather buy my puppy from a breeder than a store. You know that they are being cared for by someone that knows what they are doing.
You will see her get chubbier very soon.

my mom used to breed Boxers also... I don't remember when it began to show, but it will eventually... As for the Cropping, I like the floppy ears because it just makes them look funny and fits their attitude more... But The breed standard is to have them cropped. But My mom had a white boxer and a brindle one... They threw off some really weird litter colors and numbers. She first had like 12, than 14, than 15... I think... But she was a very good dog and I love boxers... Very good family pets.

I don't have a boxer, but I do have a pug and she's been pregnant a few times. She usually started showing anywhere between 4-6 weeks. They really, I mean really show alot around 7 weeks of course, the babies are growing. And it all depends on how many puppies are in there. As for the ears, if you like floppy then do that. Have fun with your new pups! I am, they are almost 2 weeks old and just now opening their eyes. Man, do they whine alot but it's cute.

I wish I could help on when you will first see signs of pregnancy but I can not say. I do think it will be longer for the first litter as her stomach muscles are probably a lot tighter then they will be in the future. I remember from my Boston first litter. I will tell you taking the temperature around the due date works well to tell when labor will start. I was able to tell within hours of my Boston's delivery by her temperature change.
Please do not have the Boxer's ears cropped. They play a big part in their personality. The ears help to show their character. We love our Boxer!

Obviously you dont like other peoples advice what, if it doesnt agree with yours? Then why are you asking people to answer?
I agree some people ok most can get out of hand on the whole neuter now posts. You seem to be smart enough to google dog gestation, or could have asked your vet for a general timeline.
Have ears cropped by an experienced boxer ear clipper, not a pit bull one. Pit bulls are always having long ears cause most vets do clip boxers more, the longer the better they can always be redone, ask for lots of pics of ones they have done and also its a good idea to bring pics of what you want also. but if you like them floppy keep them that way its your dog, you may want to let the owners decide for their own pups though.

I don't know much about what you are asking, but regarding backyard breeding and so on, I must only tell you this: you need to avoid mating dogs who are related to each other. It is possible that you can do this better than a breeder, but it is essential that you make sure you breed your dogs with some other dog who belongs to s.o. else, and not brothers and sisters and fathers etc. among them, because the puppies become prone to congenital diseases that the parents don't have, but are in their DNA.
As for ear cropping, it is plain mutilation, God made the dogs like that, please leave them as they are. They are cuter too.

I personally think its great that you bred your dog, the tummy will poof out prolly around 6 to 8 weeks :) Oh and if I were you I wound NOT crop the ears, personal preference I guess, but ear cropping can lead to infections, and it doesnt feel very good to the pup....I think they look perfect just as they are :) Hope this helps!

Dogs are usually pregnant between 61 and 65 days. If your dog is indeed pregnant you should see visible signs of that in 6 - 8 weeks after becoming impregnated.
I like the uncropped look, gives them more of a personality. IMHO.
