So I met this girl at a party a couple months ago. But she lives pretty far away. We've talked a lot since then and we both like each other. But because of the distance and other factors, we're taking things real slow. So, I went to see her last weekend and we hit it off pretty well. I'm going back to see her after Christmas. I was just wondering what kind of gift I should get her. I think I'm gonna stay away from jewelry though...
Thanks for the help.

Ok, thanks for some of the ideas so far, I don't really want to go the Valentine route tho. I guess I'm looking for more specific ideas rather than the whole "get her something thoughtful, sweet, etc."

Also, we've done a lot of the "dating" stuff already. I've already taken her out to eat, gone to movies, etc. So, those are more of everyday activities, I don't think they'd be that good for gifts.

Get her an electronic picture frame thing I think its digital and the pictures change. She can sit it on a table or next to her bed. Take some pictures of yourself and your pet if you have one and your buddies so she feels like she knows you, doing some funny stuff and 1 sweet picture of you holding a huge heart shaped Merry Christmas card. Don't know where to get this frame though. You can send her a champagne glass with heart shape chocolates in it a sweater with a to keep you warm and cozy and thinking of me til next we meet. Or just go see the girl.

Definitely Flowers... I would say red roses if you think things might go the romantic route... and if not send her white roses... for christmas.

Flowers come as a nice gesture without forcing yourself into a "must give Christmas presents" situation with the girl.

*Also, I would like to add that if this is a new relationship, a gift card seems so unexciting. You don't want to bore a new girl with clothes or even perfume.

Seriously if I were dating a new guy that fell around Christmas, I wouldn't expect anything and the fact that you you would show up with something shows that you are thoughtful ~ just make sure the gift IS thoughtful... =) Good Luck!

How about saints bed set. The sheets and the blanket. I think she will like that. A saints jersey. If she dont have one already. Or just get her a really cute outfit! Found out her favorite color and get the outfit. Everybody loves clothes. Or sum cute pj's to sleep in. Cant go wrong with that. Goodluck!

I know you said you want to stay away from jewelry, but a nice charm bracelet says you like her and you're thoughtful without implying deeper feelings. Hey! Or an anklet.

But, if you really want to stay away from jewelry, then how about music? Do you know what kind of music she likes? Maybe a new CD from a favorite artist of hers? That's not nearly as intimateas jewelry, but it still tells er you're thoughtful!

Yes, stay away from jewelry and clothes.
No gift cards - waaay too impersonal.

If you are in a cold climate you could get a gloves, hat, scarf kind of thing.
Maybe a book or a leather-bound journal.
Cozy, comfy slippers. (Depending on climate.)
Tickets to a concert or play that you could go to together.

since you guys have to talk more then movies tickets or going to a concert would be great for both of you.
if you want to just give her something she can keep but still get a great time together, you can go to a fair or amusment park and win her something on the way like a teddy bear or etc.

You could always send her flowers. Since she's far away. Besides I've noticed that the mail deliveries have been really slow lately. So you can always research and find out what florists are near her and have it delivered either to her work or home. That would be romantic. :-)

Probably a Sweet christmas card in there with your own special little note, sweet, but not to flirty, then maybe a rose, that sounds nice, a think a dozen roses would be pushing it though...
