My dog likes to dig outside, and just recently I discovered one of his bones in a hole. This isn't unusual I know, but today he was chewing one of his inside bones and he walked over to his bed, started "digging", once there was an indent he placed his bone in it and then started using his nose to "cover" his bone with "dirt". I am very alarmed by his strange behavior and wonder if anyone has experienced anything like this from their dog. If it helps he’s a boxer, German shepherd mix who we rescued from the local animal shelter, and he’s almost 6months old.

I had a dachshund that would do this all the time, to the point where she wore the hair off the top of her nose. She would get upset because you could still see it, she would pick it up and run around crying trying to find a place to hide it. I never left clothes on the floor because I would find buried things in them if I did. She would also bury them outside and loved to dig things up.

yes dog 's do that , but I'm some what confused you stated that the dog was digging on his blanket and made an imprint then place the bone in it and then start covering his bone with dirt . How was he able too do this? Or did he act as if he was covering it with dirt this is a dog normal reactions so dint worry.

This is normal. I have a 3 yr old Italian Greyhound and he does the same thing. He is hiding it for later. Your dog is most likley not in the mood for his bone right now but wants to make sure he knows where it is later. I cant help but to laugh it is so funny watching them do this. Get out the camera and take pictures!!

He's only playing - my dog does this all the time. It's his way of digging a hole to hide his bone INSIDE the house - his bed is a perfect, safe spot to him.

I agree that she probable is desiring an section to bury it. My Basset fairly "pretends" he's burying his bone the the nook of the room. He digs on the carpet and pushes at it consisting of his nostril the picture of at the same time as he's outdoors. Your female gained't have found out what she needs to do with it yet. i'd only enable her have it and word what she does. perchance supply it to her outdoors. reliable success! i understand mini pins are very energetic!

He's a dog. Did you miss that when you got him? Our dog hides her biscuits and "cookies" all over the house. And she'll usually try to cover them up with something (blanket, pillow, etc.). It's just regular dog stuff. Nothing strange about it.

This is perfectly normal. He'll also have particular places inside where he "buries" his prizes. I had a dog that would do this a lot. She would bury her stuff in my bed & I'd find it when I'd lay down to go to sleep. It was quite funny but annoying at times, too.

Nothing wrong, completely normal. I have seen dogs do that all the time. 6 months old, he is just a puppy and is not distinguishing between indoor and outdoor right now. Nothing to worry about, I promise you.

he feels his bed is safe riiight??? he is there when he needs it so they have a connection (sounds weird right) so he burries his bone where he thinks it will be safe, maybe if you would not discover his bone in the hole outside maybe he wil keep digging out there, so stop looking for his bone.

Well, since he's from the shelter, there may be something that happened to him when he was a puppy that he is used to doing... Like maybe he's used to having a blanket and likes to bury it in there... you never know... But I wouldn't worry about it...
