Question Details:

My pal Stan admits he believes the 4 year figure is correct, but sees no need to 'panic', as he claims "they" have built LNG terminals on all three of our coasts. But how do we get Liquid Natural Gas when our natural gas wells are depleted? Could 'they' have fallen into the same trap that most of us have? -- Natural gas has been with most/all of us our entire lives; it seems inconceivable that it should one day (soon?) be depleted. Isn't it time humankind reduces its 'footprint' on the planet by the fairly simple method of the one-child family? Acceptance of such a drastic change in public policy will surely take time (ask the Chinese!), so it seems like a race between reducing population to sustainable levels and the depletion of the fossil fuels.

Maybe giving 'prefence points' as to jobs, travel, housing, travel, etc to those who are willing to cooperate would pay off. Any other ideas?? Bruce Hunter

China has the one couple, one child policy. While I think it's a good idea, it's also an overstepping of the government.

Fear not, our population will be controlled soon enough, be it from the violence when the oil runs out, from wild environmental change or from the absolute decimation of all flora and fauna by the terminator gene in GM crops that is already spread across the planet.

It would be nice to be able to see this world without all the parasites, but being parasites ourselves that won't happen.

And to the clown who posted first:

There is a MAXIMUM of 6 months worth of oil there. Further, the US does not have the refineries needed to process it due to the quality of the crude. It would have to be sold to Japan. Guess who benefits from that. Go on. Correlate it with the last time you got a check in the mail from the oil companies. Never? Well, no **** Sherlock. Quit thinking like a republican. It makes you look....like a republican.

See, there you go thinking again, that's just going to get you in trouble...problem with 'one child' is, other countries that don't follow the reasoning behind the concept will basically decide 'well, OK, we'll just have THREE kids, then' etc.

There's 6.6 billion people, eventually there's going to be a resource shortage car wreck. Maybe not today, maybe not this decade, but eventually, it's gonna get ugly, already has, in some places. People need to find other hobbies besides having 8 kids,
and groups like the Catholics need to get The Enlightenment on birth control etc. But, I wouldn't hold your breath for that blessed event...

The four year figure is incorrect. While I do agree we should seek alternative methods of energy production, such as Nuclear energy, we need to use our own resources also.
The problem with the "Chicken Little" wing of the Dem party, led by Al Gore, is that it is not fact driven, but emotion driven. They are also hopeless hypocrites, in that people like Gore consume vast reserves of fuel to fly all over the world to spread the "word". We are the internet generation, Al (you say you invented it, after all) why not save energy by internet debate?
Most of the environmental radicals (Gore among them) are actually socialists who wish that countries such as the USA would be stifled (with how many lost jobs, and ruined lives?) for the sake of world socialism. And of course, countries like China simply flip Gore the "bird";)

Yes, let's take over Mexico, and their oil! Put the Mexicans out to work our farms for a small wage, housed in cardboard shacks, (the illegals build them, and live in them anyway), give them grills and coal to cook with (this will save on gas), and put a large jungle jim in the middle of each farm for their kids to play on, while Padre is picking corn and strawberries, and Madre is grilling tortillas, dusting the shack, and painting pictures on it of the life her family could have had, had they only fought for their own country.
Chinese? Heck, just poison them! It works faster than trying to support them with our tax dollar's. There are 2 Chinese for every dollar we have, and we just don't have enough!

If we could just get rid of the democratic hate machine we could drill in Alaska and get enough oil and NG for America for 100 years, stop importing oil and make US richer instead of the Arabs. The Democrats have never had the best interest of America in there cold hearts.

I think it is a good idea, over population will deplete our resources fast and destroy the earth. No one is going to listen though until it is too late.

I have been hearing the same thing....but for years. It seems that when limits of available resources are mentioned, the price goes up. And we end up paying more for the product. However, year after year we still learn of "new" discoveries of more reserves. Something fishy is going on...

Instead, we should cut back on self-serving, pseudo-Liberal lies put out by the Oil Slickers. By making us believe that hydrocarbons are becoming scarce, they can get away with gouging us.

First, the statement is a matter of bad science. the figure is
inaccurate.

As to the population question, how do you propose to do that
without violating a persons civil rights.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a nice day.

Thank you very much, while you're up!!
