YUSUFALI: O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His messengers. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah: Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
PICKTHAL: O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three" - Cease! (it is) better for you! - Allah is only One Allah. Far is it removed from His Transcendent Majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender.
SHAKIR: O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the Messiah, Isa son of Marium is only a messenger of Allah and His Word which He communicated to Marium and a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah and His messengers, and say not, Three. Desist, it is better for you; Allah is only one Allah; far be It from His glory that He should have a son, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.

Muslims (and Islam) say Jesus was a prophet but they reject all His teachings ....that is hypocrisy.

They reject Christ's divinity;
they reject his claim to be the Son of God;
they reject his death on the cross...
they reject His ressurrection..
They reject Jesus is the Christ/ Messiah...
Need I say more...?

Don't be deceived. The Islamic god is totally different than the God of Jesus Christ.

The Bible calls Muhammed and those like him false prophets:
"Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is anti-Christ, that denies the Father and the Son. He that denies the Son, the same has not the Father." (I John 2:22)

The Islam faith AND the Christian faith believe in ONE God.

BUT

Islam faith DO NOT believe:

1) Jesus is the Son of God
2) That Jesus was crucified to save the sins of mankind.
3) The Trinity/The make-up of God which is: The Father, (The Son aka The Word) , The Holy Spirit.

Matt 1: 18 - 21

18 - This was how the birth of Jesus Christ took place. His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married, she found out that she was going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit. 19 - Joseph was a man who always did what was right, but he did not want to disgrace Mary publicly; so he made plans to break the engagement privately. 20 - While he was thinking about this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived. 21 - She will have a son, and you will name him Jesus because he will savie his people from their sins"

Matt 1:23

23 - "A virgin will become pregnant and have a son, and he will be called Immanuel" (which means, "God is with us").

Matt 3:16-17

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he came up out of the water. Then heaven was opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove and alighting on him. 17 - Then a voice said from heaven "This is my own dear Son, with whom i am pleased".

The Bible speaks the Truth because the Truth comes from the Gospel of the True God.

The Qur'an is NOT the WORD OF GOD so dont be deceived.

These are three translations of a passage from the Qur'an (as a few others have said). It is basically saying that Jesus was God's Messenger and that God is one, not three. The doctrine of the Trinity developed in the early Christian community and eventually was adopted as the official position of the Church by the Council of Nicea if I recall correctly. There were, prior to that time, factions within the Christian community that held other views.

By Muhammad's time, the doctrine of the Trinity was of course the default position of the Church. According to Muhammad's teachings (which actually are the same as Biblical teachings), God is a spirit and the Creator of all things, without peer or equal. Thus, to equate Jesus (or any other Messenger of God) with God Himself is to "join partners with God", that is, to make something other than God equal to God.

As I understand it, it is likely that this and similar passages were aimed primarily at groups of Christians who had taken the idea of Jesus as the Son of God to an extreme, claiming that the title was more than an expression of the spiritual relationship between God and Jesus but indeed that Jesus was physically God's offspring, just as any of us are the physical offspring of our parents. I don't have a source for that, but it's been explained that way to me by a friend who is fairly knowledgeable about the history of Islam. Such an idea would effectively make Jesus "God junior" and result in a doctrine of multiple dieties. However, as I only have this by word of mouth, it's probably worth taking with a pound or two of salt. ;-)

Jesus is God, Allah is an unknowable being, impossible to approach or comprehend. The chief lack of the Islamic doctrine of God is that of love. Jesus Christ is God who we can have a personal relationship with and He loves us.

Here's my cut & paste skills :-)
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Yes, I can explain it.

You failed to understand the concept of Yahoo! Answers. You have posted material (appearing to be three interpretations of some sura or another from the Qu'ran), but did not ask an actual question.

Why you have done this, in violation of the community standards, however, is a mystery.

Did you know that the word 'Christ' in Greek is synonymous with Messiah? Your text included Christ, as if the writer didn't know what it meant. Who wrote that thing? / :

Truly laughable!

EDIT: thumbs up! Keep learning! lol

It's very easy to explain. Anyone writing a "holy" book can say whatever comes to his mind.
